Who would win - 2010 Aston Martin DB9 or 2009 AMG C63
This morning I saw a beautiful $200k - DB9 at a stop light.
Spoke with the guy at the light and he said he had some engine work done on it and he dyno’d at 425rwhp.
Thought to myself that’s about what I dyno’d after MHP tune (424 and 370). HUM!
Just looked up the specs on the DB9.
6.0 liter V12, 470hp and 443tq… About the same as a stock C63.
So the question is who would win in a 0-60, 0-150 or 60-130? Top speed?
Awesome looking and sounding car but I think the C63 will hang or even beat the DB9 straight out and I’ll have $130K in my pocket to spend on the ticket…
Any thoughts?

The Aston is just pure sex on wheels when it comes to overall presence and look. The C63 just does not compare in my opinion. The interior is one of the best out there whereas ours is borderline at best and not worthy of admiration.
As far as performance, if you have a tune, you will walk the DB9 0-60. It will be closer for 0-150 and 60-130 but I would put my money on the tuned C63.

C63 wins 0-60 and 1/4 mile in stock form, not sure how both are against each other with the mods, probably similar.
However the Aston Martin DB9 is in my top 5 best looking cars out there. It's a high level luxury car, not an entry level luxury/sports car like the C63 (with amazing performances).
The price different is so big that even the fact we can compare them at some point is great.
I figure if I had to put 200K on a car there is a pretty long list to look at!

At a stoplight ...what? come on. you didn't race him?
Or are you holding out on the answer?
According to EVO magazine UK for stock cars of course:
DB9 bhp per ton: 271 0-60: 4.6
http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/cardata/?cat=coupes
C63 bhp per ton 265 0-60: 4.7
http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/card...sports_saloons
My guess is 0-60 neck to neck
Then DB9 slightly ahead because if better power weigth ratio and probably less drag too.

Car and driver results were 3.9 seconds 0-60 for the C63 and 4.7 sec 0-60 for the manual DB9 (4.9 for automatic)
Their number is agressive but 4.3 seconds for the c63 0-60 is closer to reality (with a 0-62 in 4.5), which makes it faster than the DB9.
For the 1/4 mile, the best stock DB9 time I found was 12.9, while the C63 is more around 12.5 on average (not the best stock time too).
Next time race him and avoid all this confusion LOL

Style wise the db9 looks much much better than the SLS. IMO
the only good thing styling wise about the SLS, are the gullwing doors IMO.
