Euro Delivery, Front License Plate???? to be or not to be?
Ok, dumb question. I'm getting Euro Delivery next week and i see that they affix a front license on my new car because I'm going to drive it around Europe - up to shinannigans of course. At first i thought, I don't want them putting holes in my front bumper and the bracket they put on will most likely scratch the bumper, no matter how careful they are.
But then.... I thought, it might be pretty bad *** to have a euro plate on the car.
Thoughts anyone?

See if they will still give you the factory plate holder. That way if you decide you want a Euro plate later you won't have to buy one (about $100 US). Trust me

There was a post about plate bracket that can be installed where the towing hook is. You can use that as a temporary solution for Europe.

Be careful about putting plate on dash. This is technically against the law in many countries in Europe and if you happen across a traffic cop who is having a bad day (or is stickler for rules) then you would be looking at a fine. You can always plead the case the car is to be exported to US and they might let you of the hook. I have driven US car in Europe without front plate with no issues, so you should be ok, but just FYI.

yes, because they may require you to pay in cash on the spot which is a common practice in situations here. Or they would enter the outstanding ticket into EU customs systems based on tags/VIN# and you would be required to pay the ticket before the car is released by customs for shipment at the docks to the US. Either way they can get you.

In Germany, It is illegal to have no front plates affixed to the car. A few years back, they stopped us in Germany cause the license plate on our car was dirty and the country of origin was not visible. What more with no front plates.

BMW Euro Delivery sticks the front plate on with double-stick tape.
I kept mine on but have the option of removing it, with no holes.

i've decided the front plate looks pretty bad *** and it will be one hell of a conversation piece. If i get a few little holes and scratches, i'm sure i can buff them out. thanks for input guys - hey i agree with the traffic ticket in germany. I think i'd take the chance at being a wanted man in germany for not paying!

I just had my US front plate added today and the tag template they put on is made of plastic so there should be no issues with scratches. You can always have them put this on with 3M tap and therefore no need for hole drilling. Then all you have to worry about is someone back home trying to steal that cool looking plate. When you head north to export (assume you are sending by port in north) take the A3 early in the morning. There are great sections of this autobahn that will allow that new baby of yours to show what she can do!
