Just removed my charcoal filters

Car definately feels a lil quicker, sure feels like it gained 5-7 hp and a little more throttle response to boot. So, anybody that hasnt done this DIY mod, i recommend you do it. Took me 15 mins btw.

I took mine out last week but the damn CEL came on 5miles later. So I put them back. Maybe because my C63 has the P30 package(delimitd to 174)?

Good mod to do (and I did it months ago ) but I question your "butt dyno" feeling a possible gain of ~ 5WHP on a 451+HP car.

Does the charcoal filter delete violate any state emissions laws?

No; most cars do not have the charcoal filters. To be honest, I'm really not sure why MB puts them in there in addition to the regular air filters.

2009 C63 with Eurocharged tune and charcoal delete
I took mine out too (easy 20 minute job) but I can't honestly say I feel any difference. I assume more air is better (even if we can't feel the difference) but I would be interested to hear from anyone who actually has real facts on if this charcoal filter delete thing has any bad effects on the engine. I assume the MAF sensors adjust the fuel mix to suit the increased airflow, but I'm a little old school and part of me thinks Benz puts those things there for a reason. if it's really just EPA certification crap and there's nothing to worry about, that's great, but I'd like to hear both sides of the story. Anyone?

The major improvement you will see is on a real dyno not a "butt dyno" and that is only after your car is tuned so the TB opens up to the normal 87% (All M156 Engines) instead of 60% (C63 M156 Stock) to let increased air flow into the intake manifold.

Nope - I have the P30, took mine out about a week ago, and no CEL! One problem I've read about when taking out the charcoals is that you have to make sure the air filters re-seat properly so there's a firm seal once you've re-installed the airbox uppers.

I live in Japan and from stock in Japan it does not have charcoal filter. I heard its for US. So I dont think that its bad for engine. Dealer in Japan was suprised that in US it has charcoal filter. I dont know 100% why in US it has charcoal filter but Im sure that its just for law or something. All the car in Japan works just fine.

no cel, but after you shut off the engine in a garage, you atucally can smell HC emission from the engine that escape from the intake ports and intake manifold

. . . and that's what the charcoal filters were designed to prevent.

I have a really sensitive "butt"......no homo. Actaully u do feel every bid of more hp on a 451 hp car because you lose traction even more with added hp. Idk. just of those things u either feel it or dont, and i do.

Maybe it's more difficult for me to "feel" another +5WHP since I have 521HP / 480 lb-ft TQ with my RENNtech ecu flash tune.

True, that falls under volatile organics (evaporated gasoline) emissions. Filtering out those type of vapors is all the charcoal filters will do. Smart MB, but totally overkill.
