so when is the last cutoff day/period to order a 2010 if 2011 is indeed coming out with a turboed motor?

I have money sitting and waiting and can't get answers out of the salespeople nor the internet (at least nothing concrete anyway)

I am not wild about the idea of a Direct Injected engine (especially with my experience with the VW/Audi DI engines...) So I have no idea what to do...

AMG has a history of swapping C-AMGs after only a couple/few model years. In the last C chassis, the C32 was only offered for 3 MYs, the C55 for a whopping 2.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but if the C63 w/ M156 is the only w204 AMG, it'd be a new precident. w205 AMG probably isn't until 2014-5; it'll be interesting to see what happens, either way.
Good points, and thanks for reminding us. However, if I were Mercedes-Benz, and judging by the success of the current C-class AMG model, I'd milk it for everything it's worth and wait to make an even bigger impact by marrying the new motor to a new body.

Just my two cents.

Only one of the four changes above appeals to me...I'd be a buyer of a '10.

I don't think they will change it, I went to the dealer yesterday and asked them about the 2011 C63. They said that it will be the same NOT CHANGES

We are waiting for the 5.5 Bi-turbo

Hey GeeMoneyMan, you mentioned the increase in power and torque, but did the dealer provide a number for the standard power ? (ie the power without the performance package)

The dealer had no idea what the standard hp/tq would be or even what's new for 2011. In fact, I'm the one who told them that the E coupe was actually based on the C class chassis, I think they still don't believe me though.
Anyway, I have the build sheet for the car I ordered, which says + 27 hp / 74 lb-ft, so if that's not what it comes I'll have to think about whether or not I want to buy it.

^^ to me that sounds like some sort of turbocharged engine simply because thats the kind of gains one would see with an ECU remap....

The 5.5 T (M 157) available in the 2011 S AMG has HP available from 544 to an option of 571. That coincidentially is 27HP. That HP most assuredly will not be available in the C Class. Could your order be somehow messed up with an S class MY2011?

My guess is May production is already allotted and that there is no more available, making 2011 the only choice if you want to order a C63. Yes, confirm with a dealer to be sure.

At the risk of being shot down, I agree. Ive plenty of experience with Turbo charged tunes and those sort of Hp AND Torque gains are directly in alignment with the outcome of a turbo charged car's ECU remap.

Based on this info it will be a 5.5 Twin !!!

I should also mentioned that a C63 is a large purchase in Australia. After taxed the car is the equivalent of approx $135,000 USD, I think thats about double the cost in the US. The impact of buying a car than is immediately not current on the second hand car market is therefore much greater. Im a patient man. With any luck Merc will do as BMW have just done and only make minor changes and keep the 6.2ltr etc.

Thanks for the advice all the same.

Dylan
You could of bought a new c63 09 for $53,500 plus tax in usa on at 69k msrp car. Also the tax you could of written it off on your tax return.

Yes, but it will debut in the S class first and not the C class for MY2011.

A relaible source tells me that starting MArch Prod 2011, there will be a minor facelift to the C class across the range. As stated the range topping C63 will have the 5.5 biturbo with 310-320 kw (yes that low, but torque should be enormous at low rpm), whereas the S models will get a 400 kw version. Again the same dutuned motor for our beloved C63. I am planning to trade mine for a P31 version before they discontinue. This will be the last NA motor AMG will built that has real character. I doubt if a turbo engine can sound as good.

No Mate, not over here in Australia. Our dealers cant get enough stock to meet demand, they are still selling 09 Built and complied cars for full retail price (and thats if you can get one). I wish our prices were like yours.

Again, I'm happy to wait and make an educated decision, I've gone 32 years without a C63, another couple of Months won't hurt.

The facelift is around March 2011, by the time it arrives australia It will be around June I guess.

For any new model car/engine it will take maybe one-two years to become really refined.

I actually waited 10 month for my car, since June 2009, thinking 2010 production will have a facelift, but it didnt. But Im really happy with my purchase with this bloody nice NA engine. You can always private sell it your 63, if you believe 55TT is really much more superior before the warranty runs out.

I'm still deciding if I will keep my 63, I will wait n see once 55TT is here, how good it really is. But I have a feeling it wont be in the facelift, and starts in the next generation w205 AMG. So you could be waiting for sometimes.

Hope this helps.
