2011 c63 ????? What changes will we see?

I am hoping for a HP increase to over 500! This would help compete with the CTSv's power to weight ratio. I know 500 is easy to achieve with some basic mods, but I am talking showroom.

Does anyone know of any changes ---rumors, etc. I can find nothing on the web about the 2011 as of yet.

I'm in the same boat. I've put off my purchase in anticipation of the MY11 and scour the Net each week looking for info.

The lack of information may indicate we're not going to see a change for a while, which kills me.

Rumours so far include, 5.5ltr Bi-Turbo, Direct Injection, stop start technology and Dual clutch transmission. I should stress these are only rumors, who knows what the final product will look like.

If I find any updates I will place them in the thread.

There is always something better on the horizon. Why deprive
yourself of something that is real and could be had now.

These motors are insane. Look at some the trap speeds these
guys are running with a few bolt on parts.

If you are not in a hurry to buy a car, it is better to wait and see what the 2011 will have in store. There will always be new 2010s left over to choose from.

+2, there will always be something newer out there. And you may not be happy with the way that engine sounds. Don't deprive yourself and get this beast now. Gas and tire companies will love you for it

I for one am in full panic mode as this current crate motor is one of the best normally aspirated, the sound like no other and i am worried about what the next rumored motor is going to sound like.....doubt its going to sound like this one, so I am left wondering should I sell my 2008 C63 and get one of the last built 2010 or whenever they decide this information is official, not one car has brought 13 yr old school girl giggles from me as much as this one, looks like the SLS AMG is the only AMG model that is to carry this powerplant over to the next model years to come....oh well, looks like my mid life crisis car is coming at 40yrs old......poor poor wife

I waited for the 2010. I shouldn't have and should've picked up a 2009 to enjoy over the summer. 3 days after I got my car, they announced P31. There will always be something new coming out.

I don't think the W204 will see a new motor. I think the new motor will come with the new C-class.

02 CLK 55 AMG,09 C63 loaded with P30
C63 has the best sounding exhaust music, best NA motor which loves to rev to 7200rpm. At idle (warm engine) cant even hear the engine. Car is very tight with the PP.

I don't think we will see the new 5.5L V8 Biturbo until 2012 earliest. They just made upgrades (P31) to the C63 so I doubt they will do that.

Given that BMW has all but confirmed that the new M3 will once again be powered by an in-line 6 this time with a twin scroll single turbo, I fear that the next gen AMG C class is going to be powered by a lesser motor than the remainder of the line up which is expected to receive the 5.5l bi-turbo. It is just hard to believe that MB can price point an engine that sophisticated into our market segment with the 65 line priced in excess of $200,000. BMW will probably be extracting well over $100,000 from your wallet for the upcoming M5/M6 which will create a huge price/performance differential above the M3 and I would not be surprised to see MB follow suit.

This is a tough one for me. I love to research and get the best car/options available knowing that there will always be something better. The engine in the current 63 is a huge reason why I got the car. No regrets!!

Yes this is my logic. I know the V8 Turbo is coming sometime this year as Merc have announced it, they have also made broad statements regarding Stop Start technology.

I agree it is not as likely to sound as good but until I know exactly what Id be giving up by buying an MY10 I'm going to sit on the fence.

I should also mentioned that a C63 is a large purchase in Australia. After taxed the car is the equivalent of approx $135,000 USD, I think thats about double the cost in the US. The impact of buying a car than is immediately not current on the second hand car market is therefore much greater. Im a patient man. With any luck Merc will do as BMW have just done and only make minor changes and keep the 6.2ltr etc.

Thanks for the advice all the same.

Just ordered a 2011 C63 with the P31 AMG development package. It does not say what engine the car has in it, or the price yet, but it does say the package comes with "923: Power increase (+27 hp / 74lb-ft)". This would indicate that the new 5.5 liter twin turbo will be in the car because the P31 package for 2010 with the 6.2 liter engine has +30 hp and no torque increase.

I contacted an AMG product representative from MB USA and he said there are no plans to put the 5.5 TT in the new C63. He could not answer as to why the package indicates the power increase that it does. Guess I'll find out in a few months when the car gets here.

I hope it doesn't happen, but mate, what if you die in 6 months time when a semi runs a red and t-bones you in your current car. By then, you could have had a 6.2, but instead never had the joy of anything.

I just picked up my 2010 today, and after cruising around tonight (250km) with a full car load (yep, all three rear seats full) of mates, I don't regret my decision what so ever.

I guess what I am trying to say, work for the future but you need to live for the present. you can always wait for the next latest and greatest, but you need to think "is it good enough to put a DAMN big smile on my face now?"

This suggests that the first iteration (not finalized, no prices) order guide is out. Do you have a scan of your order or the guide ? I'm deciding b/w 2010 and 2011.

The car's only been out a few years. I'd reckon a new engine would accompany an all-new body and chassis. Don't hold your breath.

There are no changes to the 2011 C63. The P31 package is available as stated with a 27hp increase, along with all the extra's it has now. LSD, Keyless, mbrace, etc are all separate add on's. The introduction of the 5.5 TT motor is supposed to be in the S63 later this year.

w202 AMGs - C36 and C43 (and a tiny few C55s)
w203 AMGs - C32 and C55

AMG has a history of swapping C-AMGs after only a couple/few model years. In the last C chassis, the C32 was only offered for 3 MYs, the C55 for a whopping 2.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but if the C63 w/ M156 is the only w204 AMG, it'd be a new precident. w205 AMG probably isn't until 2014-5; it'll be interesting to see what happens, either way.

That is incorrect. The 2010 M/Y C63 with the P31 package does not add 27 hp, it adds 30hp. It also does not increase the torque at all and definitely not by 74 lb-ft as stated in the 2011 M/Y P31 package. If it did the M156 6.2 liter would be producing 515 lb-ft which is well beyond it's rated output of 465 lb-ft (it currently has 441 lb-ft in a C63).

Additionally, Dr. Thomas Weber: Head of Group Research and Mercedes-Benz Cars Development, said in December 2009 that the 6.2 liter M156 is being dropped and all 2011 V8 powered vehicles will be turbo powered. See the link below.

Keep in mind that Mercedes Benz has paid out over $200 million in CAFE fine to the US government since 1983. In 2006 they paid a record $30.3 million, and in 2007 $28.9 million, so they're looking to go green and avoid the fines and gas guzzler tax.

I personally think the 2011 C63 will still have the 6.2 liter and my order sheet is wrong, however, AMG does pull some crazy things out of the hat from time to time.
