Show me some wheels
I have a customer who wants to upgrade his wheels on his C63. He is a very avid race guy, wants a wider tire in the rear. Not necessarily needing to go to a 19" wheel, but definitely wants something wider. Thanks for the help.

Hi,
Well first off for the tires, 275 is the max you can go in the back without fender work and just if you use the stock suspension. If you want to go with a lower aftermarket suspension, 265 will be the max. Also keep in mind some tire sizes like 275/18/35 will look a bit big on the wheel and they just don't make 275/18/30. This is one of the advantages of going to 19s (and the look too)
This means without some body work you can't go that wide in the back. If it's just for traction get very sticky tires (R compound or something close - street/track tire like the potenza RE11) or a good aftermarket LSD (Quaife or OS Giken if he has the $$$ - the best).
For wheels well it's all about the budget, HRE is great but very pricey (6000$). I have custom wheels from forgestar that are light and very cheap too but it takes 6-8 weeks to get them (1400$). It depends on style, when you need them and how much your customer wants to spend.
hope this helps!

Thanks Chief. I had searched and found that the 275's were the widest you could go. I wouldn't think he would shy away from 19's, but it's not a necessity. What he seems to be concerned with is that he has only about 1500 miles on his new car and doesnt think he will make it to 2k miles (mind you he came from a CLS63 and can now turn off traction, so he is having some fun and admits it). His budget is probably subjective, I think he would spend around $4k max. Any shots of your Forgestars?

They are in a box here but same as in this picture below (matte black). They also have regular steel, titanium, gunmetal and gold. But if you're guy is in a hurry this ain't the way to go...
A lot of the guys have HRE (the C97 are really amazing on the car) or the AMG 19s. I haven't seen that many other wheels on a C63 yet.

Those look good. Not sure how big of a hurry, just knows that his stock tires aren't going to last him much longer. Thanks for the pic.

Well it looks like for now we are going to throw on a 265 on the stock rim and see how he likes that. If you guys can believe it, he will probably need new rears within the next 500-600 miles, which means he might get 2500 miles out of the first set. I will let you guys know if he decides to put some aftermarkets on. Thanks for all the help.

Here are a couple of pics with 18 x 9-1/2" HRE with 275-35-18 on the rear.
If you want additional traction I run the Nitto 555R in 285-35-18 on the rear for every day driving now. They are great tires and do hold well.

I am pretty sure thats the stock springs. I run the H&R springs for street and high speed runs and exchange them back to the stock for 1/4 mile competition. I am pretty sure by looking thats the stock springs.
To answer the other question. I have tried CCW, Forgeline and HRE and the lightest are the HRE series by quite a bit. They are the most expensive but the lightest.
