To give you a summary, the guy that is going to have the MBH headers already has a set of custom headers(long tubes) that made 40 whp more than the Renntech headers.

Yep - should be interesting to see the delta vs. the Goodspeed headers rarfinancial already had installed. Not the greatest history between those shops...
Look forward to also seeing what design they (MBH) go with for the CLS, and if it's the same as, or different than, their C63 product.

I personally used both shops in the past for two different cars and they both had excellent customer service. All I know is that a former employee(mechanic) that use to work in Dynocomp now works for Goodspeedperformancelab but other than that they are very reputable shops for years in the past...

I heard that the headers for Rarfinancial's CLS are going to be four into one design in place of the tri-Y type design so they will definitely be different than the "C" headers.

^^ Can you elaborate on your comment: " Not the greatest history between those shops..."![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

From what I recall, Goodspeed's owners used to work for Dyno-Comp, and allegedly decided to then branch out and start their own shop, meanwhile "poaching" a lot of the same client and vendor relationships that had been cultivated while at Dyno-Comp... which didn't sit well with DC (understandably so).
That may not be exactly right, but I think that was the gist of it. If MBH wishes to tell the story, it's his right - my story is simply what I remember, and being second-hand from quite awhile ago, shouldn't be considered reliable or trust-worthy. Suffice it to say, the punchline is that there wasn't (isn't?) the most amicable relationship between those two shops.

MBH/hooleyboy posted a couple pictures showing what a good 4-into-1 collector looks like, vs. a not-so-good one, in rarfinancial's thread on the w211 subforum. Even so, I'm not sure we can 100% deduce that means the CLS63 headers are definitely 4-into-1... probably are, but the design is still unknown AFAIK.

Hey guys, well I don't want to say much about the headers from Hooley, I feel he should state what they are going to be. But I will say this, I really like the TRI-Y design
, the data on that type of header on a N/A motor is ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I have always been one to try many different mods even the same but made by different shops. 2" primary and the TRI-Y would be a great test with lots of data. My car is in the hands of MHB header dept. They have my full authorization to build the best header and design they feel will produce the most HP/TQ for the 63 N/A.. I feel very good about the shop DYNO-COMP and do not have any problem with Goodspeed.
James from ACG has guided me through my mods for the past 3 years and is still a big part of modding my CLS63 Beast. I must be crazy
who gets two sets of LT's made for the same car

Also, gains on RarFinancial's car will be tricky to compare to the C-Class since his car has so many different mods and a countless number of different tunes for different setups. It would be nice to install these headers on a stock car, then measure the gains, and then install the tune, then re-measures the gains again on the dyno preferably chosing a day with very similar conditions. Such process usually gives the "cleanest" data for R&D - although still not 100% perfect, but should be close enough. For the E/CLS platform, a similar process would also give more clear results if tested on a stock car.
Either way, I'm glad vendors are still producing power mods for the 63 engine and I will be looking forward to see the results....

Does anyone know if there is any cutting and welding involved with installing these headers???
Id search that other thread but there is too much bull**** in it.
What Im trying to figure out is.
If I get these headers installed at a performance shop. They aren't going to be able to weld and cut them up, so I'm trying to figure out how I will get it over to a muffler shop to get welded.

IIRC, included in the MBH header shipment are install directions.....so you could have an exhaust shop do the install with these AND the welding/cutting.
additionally, i feel that a lot of performance shops have welding/cutting but w/e.

AFAIK, only one C63 LT header design at present is configured to be bolt-up and fully reversible without any cutting or welding of the exhaust system.
