Unhappy Dash lit up like a Xmas tree???

I was leaving a client meeting and started up my C63 and the dash went crazy!

CEL light on
Cruise control "not working" message
ABS not "working message"
ESP not "working message"
Brake light on (tried releasing the parking brake - no change)
Speedo "not working"
Power Steering felt like it was not working

I tried to reset by turning everything of and getting out and locking the car and re-entering

I called my MB Service Rep and he asked me to try a couple things to try to reboot the ECU but same result!

Anyway, it's in the shop being diagnosed.

Has anyone had this same experience? The Service rep says he see's that sometimes when the battery is low but I wonder if that's my problem.

Let me know!!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Sounds like the MB equivalent of a blue screen of death. Good luck getting it sorted out.

In my w203 I had those messages when I accidently unhooked the wiring harness under the passenger seat.

Interesting; I had that same thing happen with my '07 BMW 335i...the car drove fine but got similar 6 dashboard errors all at one time!!! It turned out to be a malfunctioning "road sensor." It's possible your issue on the C63 AMG may be something similar. G/L.

Even though it's no 63 AMG car. i had a very similar problem with my CLK 500. Lots of error messages and when i tried to drive the car it would not go any faster than 6 mph or shift out of first, or go above 1300 RPM, no matter throttle input.

Since I was out getting lunch when this happened. I just unhooked the battery, right there in the parking lot, walked across the street got a few drinks a Bar Louie, came back about a hour later, hooked it back up, and boom it fired right up, with no isues. haven't had any issues with it since (9months).

P.S. as soon as you hook the battery back up wait a couple of min, as the car will probally be running a "start-up" program.

Whatever we're tuning!
It sounds like a coding issue.

Hopefully it is a quick fix.

Good luck.

From my MB Service Rep.

The ECU is Fried They have to order a new one and it will take about a week for the new one to get here.

They gave me a decent loaner (a GLK with less than 1000 miles) but it's not an AMG.

Anyway I'll miss the mini beast until I get it back

Seems like an anomaly. Just a freak occurrence.

Some type of spike with your power/charging system.

Hopefully it isn't a recurring issue. Good luck and keep us updated!

Recently we have had a lot of rain in So. Cal. and I recently started using a Mobil "Car Wash" that gives you a high pressure wash while you sit in the car.
(I hate having a black car that looks unkempt with mud and water streaks until the regular car wash places open up)

I noticed while sitting in the car in this car wash that water pressure is real high and water builds up on the lower portion of the windshield. I didn't think too much about it until the MB service tech said that the ECU was fried and am speculating that water seeped into the area that houses the ECU from this ultra high water pressure.

I guess from now on I'll refrain from washing it there and let the little beast look unkempt until the regular car wash opens.

Just reaching, who knows what caused this!!!

Dude, if you can't take you car through a car wash because water seeps into the housing, that IS a warranty issue.

Its not like he drove through a flash-flood...he simply got a car wash....could have happened with a hose too.

If MB tries to screw you on that, I'd tell them to pound sand and fix that **** before you sue them...hoods should protect completely from the top...from the bottom, that is a different story!

That if they should protect one thing on the car it should be the ECU, right?

So far they have just said their ordering the part and I'll have it back in just over a week.

No more high power jet car washes for me, rain or no rain!!!

Sorry to hear about the problem. Unfortunately, I had exact same issue four days ago. I actually had to have my car towed because PRE-SAFE came up and car essentially would not let me go anywhere. The dealer tech replaced left front sensor module (communication module - apparently there are four in total, one in each corner) and everything is fine. Apparently, this sensor monitors thins such as collision / damage / brake failure etc. Once it fails, car goes into a "safe" mode and sometimes it won't let anyone drive the thing. One thing of note, when the dealer replaced the sensor module, the car ran fine but every time the car started to move, hood open warning came on. I had to take the car back a day later. They forgot to reprogram appropriate code for the module. This was done with OBD computer and took 5 minutes. All is well now. I hope your dealer sorts this out quickly for you.

By the way I have 2010 C63. I wonder if this is limited to AMG cars or all new C classes.
