Any legit 5.5 TT release dates?
Just wondering if anyone has an idea on the expected 5.5 TT dates for the 2011 AMG C Series; whether MB decides to keep the same liter badge or not.
Still waiting on my 2010 1/2; got a delivery date of 24 June and now I'm starting to waiver on whether or not to wait for the 2011. I do still like the idea of perhaps getting the last NA C Series at just over 6.2 liters, but maybe, just maybe the TT could get my vote if some of the 2010 upgrades are included for 2011. I'm sure there will be a percentage markup as always for the next model year.
Since my delivery date is so faarrrr out, I'm pretty sure I could still cancel the 2010 order.
Thoughts/opinions/known facts??

5.5tt isnt coming out in the C unfortunately. Not enough room under the bonnet. Coming out before the end of this year in Euro in the E and then the S and then M next year

I am confident the C Class will receive the same motor, its not like they're trying to fit a 454 into a VW Bug. My dealership is also confident claiming pressure to meet EU standards with regard to economy etc will drive it.
I anticipate it either with the MY11 update or an MY11.5 update in the First quarter of next year.

It will fit, look at a Brabus Bullit, but if they ever do it will be much more expensive. M3 is going back to an inline 6 this time turbocharged so don't be surprised if the next AMG C gets a TTV6.

Alqamzi, can you or anyone else name a source of this info? Anyone have the timeframe for the 2011 C AMG's release, regardless of the engine size?

This innovative, autonomously developed eight-cylinder power unit from Affalterbach sets new standards in terms of fuel consumption and exemplary efficiency: the new S 63 AMG, in which the V8 biturbo will have its market debut, consumes only 10.5 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC combined consumption, provisional figure).

If it is coming out in E later, which means the current E63 has 6.2, same as C63, therefore the new 5.5TT will definitely fit C63.

One platform that consistently seems to get a lot of aftermarket attention is the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan. In just the last couple of months we have seen the edo competition C63 AMG and the Avus Performance C63 AMG emerge and there are more variations on the horizon. But sometimes we forget about the company that first saw the potential in the C-Class sedan and set the bar so high that nobody has outdone them yet. The BRABUS Bullit Black Arrow was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2008 and is now available as a 2009 model. Using a run-of-the-mill C-Class, BRABUS employs "surgical precision" to install a 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 engine capable of 730 horsepower and 974 lb-ft of torque. All of this power is delivered to the rear wheels using a five-speed auto transmission with a limited-slip differential set at 40 percent. The Black Arrow can reach 62 mph from a stop in 3.9 seconds and tops out at just over 225 mph. That's pretty amazing for a car that has a curb weight of 4,079.

All the Mercedes press releases said that it's going to be in the S63 first.

I have no doubt it can fit either. The dfference between Brabus and AMG is AMG need to make a commercial return from the car and that may mean not bringing it out.
My source of info that it wont get the tt is one of the AMG technical guys who was up in Sweden in Feb with us for the AMG wintersport program, so I am taking what he says as reliable.

Who ever said that emercedesbenz.com was an official site? It's just another blog as far as I can tell.

If emercedesbenz.com is the best source (albeit, not official), then so be it.
I would expect release dates for 2011 models be available by now, if not real soon. Maybe since MB is still producing 2010.5 models, they're intentionally holding off until maybe June/July.
Just looking for best source info to my original questions and generate a good dialog. Fitting the 5.5 into the C class is an interesting discussion.
oz amger - I have to admit, your source is pretty good and reasonably recent. Did he share any other upcoming insights?

I dont see any dramatic changes until the W204 face lift comes out which I believe wont be for at least another year or two maybe three. In any case the Europeans will see these changes four to six months before the American market. It seems like most of the time the Europeans see the facelift models or any big changes starting late winter or early spring which would be this time of year.............

Nah not really, I just asked about the upcoming 5.5tt and whether it would be in the C. It is being rolled out between the S and the E this year then the M next year.
Hybrid seems to be the next big thing they are working on but I didnt get too excited when he spoke about that as I am after performance at this stage not mileage.
I also asked about a cheap model sls coming out with standard doors but he didnt think that was on the cards at this stage. Anyway the sls only launched this month in Europe and comes to oz in June this year.

Exactly my point!! JohnEnglish used it in his response as a direct quote noting only the S Class would get the 5.5TT.
