If you're 22 or 25 and can afford the cars you drive (C63, GL550), more power to you and I would expect the same treatment as someone who was older, at least that is how we do it. However, you have to understand that we also get our fair share of "youngsters" who claim to have the money, etc and just want to kick tires. Main rule is "It's not right to pre-judge, b/c you never know who has the money and who doesn't".
There was no rules the 3 times before when i got the loaner cars.Just yesterday they said that i have to be 25.

Had my car in for service and overheard the manager talking about not giving someone a loaner because they were not 27 or older. They seemed to be willing to do anything else but let them have a car. Pretty sure it's an insurance/policy thing. I wouldn't take it so personally. Let them drive you around, free gas.

Sorry to hear about your troubles, I do think that some dealers insurance policies don't cover drivers under 25, some rental car companies have the same rules. It is complete BS that the dealership can not treat you equally as they would with another customer, after all you paid what a 25 year old or 50 year old would pay to purchase the car but not be allowed to recieve the same perks and service. It real boils down to age discrimination, I'm sure they could buy a policy that covers 18 year olds but they are trying to save a buck and pissing people off in the process. I'm 38 so age is not an issue, my local MB dealership is great about loaners, they have given me AMG loaners or even told me to pick any car off the lot I want to drive for the day, it shows they appreciate my business and I will remain loyal to them for their service. Now my local BMW dealership on the otherhand are a bunch of douchbags...I have purchased two M3's and an M5 from them and every time I brought/bring my car in for service they have some lame excuse about being out of BMW loaners and then put me in an Enterprise rental. One time I had the 5 in for scheduled maintainance and they gave me the same song and dance and then tried putting me into a yellow Chevy either Cavilier or Cobalt, I said no way, I walked from service over to the sales showroom, tracked down my salesman and demanded a BMW and reminded him that every time I purchased a car from him he would tout their great service and "BMW loaners", I'm not really a snob but I pull up in a $100k car and they try sticking me in a $10k death mobile....no ******* way! Needless to say I will never by another BMW from that dealership and am always sure to spread the word about their poor service.

Here in denver bmw dealerships is much much better then mercedes dealerships. But u know this is a lesson to learn.if this happens again i will go to them and remaind them that I paid cash for my car due to my age and they took the money happily and didn't say u have to be 25 loool, now when i need a loaner car they do this!!!

just out of curiosity -

What do you guys do that are under 25 driving benzos? Im not knocking it, Im all for it - just curious.

25 is one thing as I got my M3 when I was 26 and working, but at 20 I was in college doing work study to pay my loans.

And if your Pops bought your car, theres nothing wrong with that either. My dad bought me my first car too, it just wasnt a benz.

See i will tell u something and its not showoff or anything its just the way our family raised as and how we are used to.I am from dubai not from here and they way we live there is different then here we don't move out of our parents house when we are 18 i dunno how to explain its totally different then here our family spent on us and buy as cars until we get a job.My first car was E55 renntech fully tuned 620hp my father gave it to me it was his car, this car was back home.I came here to united states to complete my studies and first car i bought from my own money was 1989 mustang 5.0 i used it for 8 months then i bought 07 sti brand new i tuned it to 700hp and i blow the engine at the dragstrip after getting 11.4 sec, then i send it back home and fixed it.After that i bought 06 viper tuned it didn't like it and traded to my c63 and yes my father paid for it.

I think it depends on a lot of factors. I grew up in a wealthy suburb of Chicago, in high school most of the students had much nicer cars than the teachers, there were a handful of kids that drove everything from brand new Jeep Wrnglers and Mustang GT's to 944 Porsches, Corvettes, BMW's, Benz's and there was one kid that even had a brand new 911 Targa. I did not get my first car until I was a senior in HS, all I could afford at the time was a slightly used 1 year old 1897 Trans Am GTA, a pretty nice car for an 18 year old but not on par with what some of my friends drove at the time. My dad has money(lots) but I did not get any free ride handouts(still don't), he gave me a small down payment for that GTA, co-signed and he paid for 1st year insurance other than that I was on my own, with the monthly payments and gas. I have been a motorcycle and car nut since I was a kid so I wanted a "cool" car and worked hard to pay for it and eventually mod the hell out of it. I don't look down on teens or early 20 somethings that drive expensive cars, but sometimes I think their parents are doing them a dis-service for not making them at least work for or pay for a portion of the vehichle. Make them get some kind of a job and hand over some of the cash towards a payment, even if its just $100 a month, they will appreciate and respect the car even more that way. I had a good friend whose parents just handed him cars from the day he got his license, I'm talking nice cars, Bimmers, Vettes, a big 4x4 pick-up a Viper and more motorcycles than I can name but he never learned the value of a dollar and now he is 39 years old and still living off the parents money. I'm not saying every person who's parents handed them a car does not truly appreciate it, but I have seen a few people I know never really earn an honest dollar therefore they have no respect for what it takes to earn a dollar.

...and then we have the safety/experience issues, putting little Johnny behind the wheel of a 400-500hp car at the age of 16 or 17 is just asking for trouble. Lots of those cars I mentioned above that were driven by fellow students and friends got into accidents, some minor but some major with fatalities.

i was 21 when i bought my 07 e350, then 9 months later sold that and bought myself an E63. bought my e350 cash, but when i was buying the E63 i was looking to build credit, so i financed the minimum amount possible with MB financial, and 1.9% wasn't too bad.
Im a Soldier, and granted i grew up middle class, i always had to work for all my things. at 16 i was selling cell phones at a store, then became a manager at that store at 18. and my first car was a 99' honda civic Si, the worst car on this face of the earth because it always got me tickets, 1.6 freakin liters and it just made me want to rev the crap out of it.

so for me, it was enlistment bonus at 19 years old, i saved that threw it in some CD accounts as i knew i was getting deployed, saved my money on deployment, cause it was tax free and i didn't spend a dime there. all that ended up with me buying a 07e350 CPO cash and not even hurting. the e63 on the other hand, im not hurting financially, but im scared as hell to drive it with ESP off.

I've only run into this type of situation at dealerships I haven't purchased the car from (don't know what your situation is). I'm a month from being 21, and the local dealership where I go to college refused to loan me a car when I had an un-patchable flat (the tire was too bald, lol) and I decided to just replace them all with snows. It took them three days to get the tires, and I live off campus which created a huge problem as I had two tests that week. Their policy was that they didn't loan to those under 21, but I offered them my proof of insurance, and my father's proof of insurance and they still said no. Eventually I went higher and higher through their management chain and they offered to drive me to and from class everyday. I think many of the people in the service departments of these dealerships are jealous that a young person is driving such a high-end vehicle. The dealership where my parents live has always been very accommodating though, I think largely because my family has purchased multiple vehicles there. Even the Saab dealer where I got my first car would give me loaners when I was 16.

The rule normally is that you cannot get a rental for a trip eg vegas, but if your vehicle has been in an accident or in service they let you. With enterprise I had to show them proof my car was in the body shop. I believe I was under 20 at the time of that accident. I really doubt they are jealous if anything they just want a reason not to have to pay for the rental because it comes straight out of the advisors commission. There are plenty of young clients that own MB you guys are not unique.

One thing tho, doesn't your warranty cover the rentals? I have Easy Care and it says in the contract that it'll cover all rental cost during warranty reapir in dealerships.

I have the same bloody issue, but even before buying the car. I'm also 22 and was looking around at a few options (BMW/Merc/Lexus) before I settled on the C63.

I was lucky at the Merc dealership that I went to because the receptionist went to my high school (Was on of the most expensive in the country), so I think she vouched for me to the sales person. Lucky, the guy was young too, so I built good rapport with him quickly, and he knew I wasn't screwing around.

Funnily enough, BMW treated me like absolute dirt. They pretty much didn't even acknowledge me, they didn't listen to anything I was saying, etc etc. And this was with THREE different sales person. In the end, they lost out. I bought my C63 in cash and I am awaiting delivery in 3 weeks.

I run a small business that I started when I was 16. It started off slowly, but now is producing good returns. All the money I spend is money that I made myself, so buying the C63 for me is more a milestone/achievement than anything else.

Tell them that you are 27 next time some one asks.
I doubt that they will check your ID
