if you are into the SAFE/FUN category, that's what RS models were made for. or a GTR ..
Cute idea - but no. The new setup uses a fixed transfer ratio - 30% front 70% rear.

Read here - no understeer: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...mg_first_ride/

AWD is inevitable beyond 400 WHP - you can complain about "real" driving all day long but the fact is that the power doesn't get to the ground.

The new E63 with AWD will leave your C63 RWD behind on any track.

Now, a C63 with AWD... :-)

BTW, I don't need a car to act crazy - go buy a 1980 Porsche Turbo if you like that.

All AMG beyond 2014 will be AWD - you can't get the power in the ground with only RWD.

If you're a RWD only fan - get one now - in a few years they will be history, all the high-end cars will be AWD. Engineering fact.

Much like true manuals are going bye-bye - can't have an old-school true clutch on 600hp plus cars weighing over 4,000lbs - drivers fry those clutches too quickly.

yes, never get a clean start off the line, the car simply has too much power and no enough traction with RWD only

should be fun with AWD in AMG models

Seems odd that they would leave the C63 as the only sedan or SUV without AWD. They can't go much higher on HP w/o getting too close to the E63 and the m3 will be getting close to the C63's HP anyway (and will likely be a better track performer). AWD would be a nice differentiator. A DCT, even with RWD, may be enough to get me into the new C63, but no info that AMG is going to put the DCT in the C63 that I have heard.

Not true in the least... manufacturers build in understeer on street cars on purpose because it is FAR safer for the general consumer than a car that oversteers. To correct understeer, all someone has to do is back off the gas. If a car steps out in the rear, first it happens much more quickly and secondly it requires skill to correct. How it is corrected will depend on what caused it... throttle oversteer or lifting. Most people without track experience will be lost and the car will end up pointing in the opposite direction before they know it. It may be more prone to understeer but that is MUCH easier to correct than oversteer.

The GTR is not even in the same league as the C63 or audi RS models. GT3RS yes but the 2013 GTR drives amazing.

I really want a 4matic C63. Been waiting for a while.

awd WILL understeer huh? understeer has absolutely nothing to do with drivetrain. you can make an awd oversteer simply by adding a stiffer rear sway bar. kick out the rear end, floor it, and let it straighten out full of traction. that is awesome. cars always understeer from the factory for safety purposes. it is easier to correct an issue for the normal driver. most people can't steer out of a loose back end.

awd is always better when it is properly set up in a performance application. modern technology has removed the limitations of the 1970s pickup truck with a solid front axle.

Most of the time in moist/wet or snowy conditions I'm just slipping all over the place and can't get any grip, just have the ESP flashing. And this with new winter tires. Even when the road is bone dry, RWD cannot manage the 700Nm torque of the 55K engine. Hell, with our weather conditions I often even lose to any 200hp 4WD Audi A4, Volvo T5 AWD or comparable 4WD car. It has been a huge disappointment and disgrace...

With my previous just-as-powerful as the 4WD Porsche, it drove like a RWD car most of the time (95% rear bias), but had additional 4WD grip when needed. Additionally, it had better grip to start with due to the engine weight on the rear wheels.

Everybody doesn't drive in dry desert conditions and they should know this in Germany too - especially with the past super-snowy winter... I would REALLY love to have a 4WD AMG as soon as possible - I would instantly upgrade. If not, no more AMG's for me: I'll buy a Porsche Panamera Turbo with 4WD next!
It seems it took exactly three years after my post, but now AMG 4WD cars are finally a reality! THANK YOU MERCEDES, wise move! Meanwhile, I've moved from a CLS55 AMG to an Audi A6 Quattro due to the lack of 4WD AMG Mercs, but I'll definitely consider a 4WD AMG E/CLS/S class next.

Well, I decided to add in this thread instead of starting a new one...

Info I in the link state they don't want the C63 AWD finally for next year and added a link, I would be in for a AWD C63 instead of having a GTR and a winter car, I would use the C63 year round
