As stated the ML63 and R63 AMG are 4matic. I really don't understand the logic behind why not to make AMG 4matic sedands. I just moved from a 4WD 996 turbo to a CLS55 AMG and here in Nordic conditions I can only utilize the power probably 30% of the time. Most of the time in moist/wet or snowy conditions I'm just slipping all over the place and can't get any grip, just have the ESP flashing. And this with new winter tires. Even when the road is bone dry, RWD cannot manage the 700Nm torque of the 55K engine. Hell, with our weather conditions I often even lose to any 200hp 4WD Audi A4, Volvo T5 AWD or comparable 4WD car. It has been a huge disappointment and disgrace...
With my previous just-as-powerful as the 4WD Porsche, it drove like a RWD car most of the time (95% rear bias), but had additional 4WD grip when needed. Additionally, it had better grip to start with due to the engine weight on the rear wheels.
Everybody doesn't drive in dry desert conditions and they should know this in Germany too - especially with the past super-snowy winter... I would REALLY love to have a 4WD AMG as soon as possible - I would instantly upgrade. If not, no more AMG's for me: I'll buy a Porsche Panamera Turbo with 4WD next!

why is there no relevance? Its a high horsepower all wheel drive car. Why cant MB do the same? I would love a C63AMG, but I dont think it would do to good in a blizzard in CNY.

there is no relevance at all, look at how much you are paying for a lamborghini and how much you are paying for a c63 also RWD is way more fun.

You mean GMBH QUATRO (audi)
Other than that:
For me it is the main reason to purchase an RWD AMG (I already have a ML63) in a small body.
What I'm trying to say is: Every vehicle has it's own atmosphere.
If I was looking for a AWD I would definitely look into RS 4 or even RS6 (Euro Market)

If you're looking for AWD sport-sedans, and prefer German marques, you are wise to consider Audi's S and RS models. IMHO. And never say never, but I think it's very unlikely that AMG starts making AWD coupes/sedans/roadsters anytime soon.

Surprisingly, yes. There's a few crazies that drive them in winter in my town, and 300km north of us in Edmonton where the winters are even more harsh. The Edmonton guy got interviewed on the radio because everyone thought he was nuts, and he was going off about how great the AWD system was. I'd be worried about the paint more than traction.

Old thread, but thought I'd revive it to show how you should never say never - lots of folks with egg on their face here.
The future direction of AMG is to make ALL of them 4matic (Allrad) - starting with the E63 in 2014.

Imagine a C63 AWD!
My E55 wagon is already stupid quick - a C63 with 4matic would be insane. I'll buy one - but I'll wait for the second year of production.

true driving=rear wheel drive .. 4 wheel will get u off the line faster, but WILL understeer, which is more difficult to correct than oversteering .. yes you're more "glued" to the road, but there's some fun in loosing control every now and then .. when you buy a crazy car, you want it to act crazy, not safe .. or else you shouldn't have bought that..
if you are into the SAFE/FUN category, that's what RS models were made for. or a GTR ..
