The combination of the low torque and Quattro all wheel drive are a disadvantage....
I've walked on a couple of RS4's and they are dogs out of the hole
But the styling on the A5 is awesome....great body lines and great stance...
Here's a pic of my buddies A5 lowered on 20" RS4 wheels...great stance....

BTW, I really like audi (and have an A4)- but the E is a different class altogether. A more 'fair' comparison, both pricewise and size/class-wise is the S5 vs. C63. The A6 is a better comparison to the E550, while the s6 compares to the E63.

I think the S5 would probably take the E550, but let's be clear about 'dominate'. The E 'officially' runs a 5.2 0-60 (non-quattro), so 0.1s is not domination particularly when you look at the class of car- don't forget the E is a luxury sedan while the S is a sport coupe built on the A4 platform (a great base, BTW). I'd also say that there have been several publications that have run the E's 0-60 times at 5.1s but that's neither here nor there. I haven't run the numbers, but if the S5 really is the same weight as the E then shame on audi! (it's the quattro...) The S's 6-speed manual also gives a significant performance boost, but apples to apples (e.g. tiptronic to automatic) is a better comparison. FWIW, the coupe 550 runs 0-60 in 5.0, but isn't available in 4matic.

If all things pricewise were equal concerning the S5 vs E550, then it would still be E550 for me. IMO, the elevated price over the E550 just adds insult to injury.

Heh...as a Finn i find the discussion about pricing funny. But that's just because cars cost a lot over here. A stock C63 saloon is 117k € ($ 150k ). A fully equipped C63 saloon would cost 189000 € ($ 240000). So...100k $ doesn't sound that awful to me :P I envy your prices. My ML 63 cost 220 000 € as new (poor schmuck who bought it in the first place).

That doesn't make any sense at all and is the most moronic thing I've read in while. F430, 599, Gallardo and M5 are all class leaders-- you need to get educated.
As for the guy on pg 2 saying "it's turbo'd"....er, no it isn't...

2010 C63 AMG (Marrano Tune and K&N airfilters)
Audi has released a new promo video for the awe-inspiring RS5.
Boasting a 4.2-liter V8 with 331 kW (444 hp / 450 PS) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque, the RS5 rockets from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 250 km/h (155 mph). If that isn't fast enough, Audi can remove the speed limiter to enable the car to hit 280 km/h (174 mph). Not bad considering the RS5 only consumes 10.8 liters of petrol per 100 km (21.78 US mpg).
To keep the beast under control, Audi installed a new crown-gear center differential. It "can widely vary the distribution of torque between the front and rear axles. If necessary, up to 70 percent can flow to the front or as much as 85 percent toward the tail end."
The RS5 will go on sale in Germany this spring, with a base price of approximately €77,700 ($103,870 USD). Unfortunately, Audi has been mum on U.S. availability but it doesn't look promising
They can't be serious! $104K?!
