hello MB mates, so my gf is in the market for a new car, she currently drives a 99 C230K, and 2008 IS250 Lexus. She was looking at G55's but i showed her a white C63 and she fell in love with it. But my concerns are; she never drove a such high power car, she is a really good driver and loves to speed but i kinda don't want her killing herself lol. Anyway we went and looked at a white C63 with tan interior and its sticker is at $68,900 i believe, what should i try to knock off? I convinced her to keep the C230K as a winter car and trade in the IS250 and pay the diff. And she is only 20year old with an ok driving record, any idea how much her insurance should run? thanks for your input

Your parents got you a C63 when you're 16? Talk about spoiled.

Sorry but I can't keep my comments hidden any longer. I think threads like this is reason why the C63 section is mocked by the majority of MBworld.org. I don't think anyone in their right mind can believe that a 20 year old can afford a $70K car.
With that being said jealously is non existent (as a few members have claimed) because the majority of the membership feel this is BS.
These threads are going to continue to degrade this forum unless they are stopped and I am hoping the forums sees what is going wrong!

I believe that opinions are fully welcome, but there comes a point when claims of degrading the forum due to the age of the person driving the car & posting are simply over the proverbial line - if someone makes an idiotic comment, then call them an idiot, don't blame their age. I guarantee that there's someone younger, smarter, and wealthier out there than you are, just as there's someone older, smarter, and wealthier out there too.

Any member (or group of members) that mocks a fellow owner & MBW contributor on the sole basis of his or her age does not know the bounds of appropriate posting on a forum that seeks to bring enthusiasts together to further enjoy their rides.

As to the age thing...
I dont care how old you are and own a C63. If your parents bought it for you, good for you. Spoiled? Define spoiled. If my parents had money im sure they wouldnt want me to drive a ratty car. Im sure they would also want me to be happy and buy me something I like. If you have money you have money.
People of lesser means buy their kids 15-25K cars as their first cars. People who are poor would call those kids spoiled as well. Its all relitive.
The parental decision on the other hand to put a 16 year old kid in a 12 second car is moronic at best. I would say that his parents might have taken a hit in this slumping economy and are looking for one less dependant to put through college. If thats not their plan I truely question buying a 16 year olds love with money due to not being around very much. Either way, its the parents fault not the kids so you should leave him out of it. At 16 you would have never turned down a C63 and you know it!
In closing lets not forget the cars we drive people. Its a Mercedes. It very much comes with a stigma. Without getting into what im doing there are times I bring different cars to different jobs. Showing up to an account with a MB when the person might not be so rich or well off is a turnoff. A car speaks a lot about a person and his situation. We are all judged by someone in this world and you can be sure you are judged driving a MB. More so driving an AMG. Not only do you have money to buy a MB, but an AMG?!?! Ya know what I mean?
Thats my take on this...

Friends of my family got their son an M5 for his 16th b day, he took it out for a spin and never came back( crashed in to a divider doing 145). Kids shouldn't drive such powerful cars.
If your parents have money you dont have to drive a ****ty car, you can drive a C300 still a Benz clk350, IS250, G35 but C63, M5, M6, or any other car over 400 Hp should have an age limit and maturity limit.

if u have ur parents trust and they have money and they think ur mature enough they'll get u a nice car. my bro got an sti for his first car he started racing (with family friends in the car who told stories to my parents) dad sold the car . . . . after a couple years dad decided to buy him another car . . . .he asked for a 10 wrx . . . he didnt have a chance
i dont even trust him driving my c63 alone . . . .. specially when i was on break in

So your dad trusts that you wont speed or race in a car intended to speed and race in? Or does he trust that if you do you will do it in a safe manner? Or simply he trusts that you will lie to him and not say your doing it?
The only way im buying my son a car at 16 over 50K is if he has a scholarship to a college. Then I feel he has earned it and even then I would never put his life in danger by putting his inexperienced driving behind the wheel of a car he is not ready for.
