lug nuts - powdercoat

hey guys.

im getting my rims powdercoated and when i brought them in they said there would be no point of powdercoating the lug nuts because they will just chip. the guy said there are black covers i can buy for them. anyone know anywhere i can get these or any other options?

I would suggest getting aftermarket lugnuts that come in various colors. I ran the Volk Racing lugnuts before but I am not sure if they will fit on a C63.

you might be correct as i've been trying to find colored lugnuts ever since i got my multi-spoke 19s to no avail.

These might work though since they are lug bolts.

Be sure to get the correct seats.

You need ball seat (or radius seat) bolts for the OEM wheels, not cone seats.

Oh trust me, i don't think i'm spending $279 for lug bolts. I am fine using the OEM ones.

I powdercoated my lugnuts black and was given the exact same warning: that they would chip off over time..... and guess what? They are right. They do chip off. A few of my lug nuts are showing chips and I only did 1 tire rotation so far. I don't know how bad it'll be once I change tires in the next few months.

The covers are actually a more elegant solution. I saw them going on e-bay about a year ago. Try searching there....

Those are cool covers. Never even heard of them before. Are they plastic or metal?

They are plastic, I got them on my car to match the black wheel.

How have they been holding up from road conditions, dirt, sand, repeated wash, etc... ?

Road conditions and pressure wash no problems what so ever. These are the same type of cover used on some BMW from the manufacture and they sell them for 3x.
