...in the AMG menu. If it's based on that.

Are you referring to transmission temperature?

It is generally stated that any extended transmission temperature over 200* F will greatly shorten the life of an automatic transmission.

I am not sure of the temperature or extended time period that the ECU or TCU puts the car into Limp Mode. I have read of it happening suddenly to people under track conditions when ambient temperatures are high. There were some threads about it recently. Sorry don't remember exact temperatures.

Just want to say thanks Mort for always checking with some positive advice. Thanks for taking the time to help members, even if we always dont know the answers, its it a good feeling to know fellow members are racking thier brains to help solve problems.

Indeed, temps over 200'F will cause the transmission to shut down and unavailability signals to go on in the main gauge. You must really be pressing the car hard, and pushing under pretty hot temps for etended times to have the car shut down to protect. As stated, some members experienced it and have started a thread stating the same thing. Becareful because the car becomes "unavailable" all of a sudden, and it doesn't take reservations for it...

I will tell you that we had our car out lap after lap 20 min. sessions BEATING it and running 2.03 at ButtonWillow raceway, with NO limp mode scenarios.

I went into limp mode when the engine temp gauge got really close to the red. She shut right down almost.
