Shelby Super Snake waiting at the track

Next weekend at Roebling Road Raceway I see that a Shelby GT 500 Super Snake is running in my group. Aside from the 725 hp, does anyone know how they perform on a road course? Of course I will have plenty of in-car vids posted afterwards hopefully showing advantage AMG.

Another car I am not familiar with is a BMW 330 ZHP ???

The ZHP was an option code for a BMW handling package for the 330. IIRC, bigger wheels/tires, some different shock valving, and maybe a 10 or 15 HP boost plus some alcantara (did I spell that right?) around the cockpit. Nothing radical, but it was only offered a couple of years and the BMW fans came in their pants over them. They had special multi spoke wheels that look quite nice, and I see them around once in a while - always driven by an obvious car guy.

A friend of mine owns a 330i ZHP..
Main differences over a stock 330i are new camshafts, electronics, & lighter flywheel, suspension is totally different and has a better steering ratio than even an E46 M3 Competition, alcantra & cloth upholstry to replace car trim and steering wheel finish and headliner, 18" M3 rims, new exhaust system, SSK, and some other misc. things.

Edit; 725 WHP? :O

I had a 2005 ZHP. Most of that is right.

It was 10 extra hp. Different final drive. 18" M wheels, not M3 wheels.
The best thing was the steering ratio. I also had a 2003.5 M3 and that was brutal compared to the 330i. haha.

It also came with the shadowline trim.

you might have trouble catch it up on the 2.02mi straight way. As for corners, it depends on the drivers' skill! good luck and have fun!~

Turns out it was a convertable which I believe has some HP held back. It is a great looking car and the owner has the interior stripped out for track duty and a roll cage installed. Good news is I was able to catch and pass him exiting turn 9 onto the straight (Sat Session 3). Bad news is that my sd card had vids from Jan that I forgot to delete after transfering and the card filled before I got to that point. Best I can offer is vid from a later session where he gets a sizable gap thanks to traffic but I reel him in quickly when we run clear for a couple of laps but not before checkered flag falls.

Please excuse all the instuctor chatter.....he was non stop to the point of distraction. Hopefully I'll be solo during next event.

I did find this vid shot from a C5 Z06 who came up on me as I entered the track. Always cool to see (and hear) your own car from another car perspective.

Sounds great man...good vid...was he really ******* the body roll of the C63? That has to be a bit un-nearving carrying on a coversation as your ripping around the track...it's like, "Dude, seriously, enough with the tire/drift/body roll already". Good footage!

Very nice vid. Guess you had to endure the instructor intrusion for the initial run as part of the track package. As a driver, I know it would have be nice if he would shut up shutting up. Even his "3-2-1"'s were inconsistent and probably over-dilled in your head by the hearing second one.

Great job driving!! Looked like real fun in spite of your "co-pilot."

Having an instructor along is part of the process at these "Drivers Eds" while working through Green then Blue. The first three I had were actually great and taught me alot about road course driving. This one talked way too much and kept repeating basic instruction like this was my first day on the track. Meanwhile we are turning lap times that are on pace with most of the white and black group drivers and passing everyone we meet. For the life of me I don't know why he didn't recomend a check off ride to let me solo.

Howard,
Glad you are safe and didn't have an incident with these tires. You did that in one weekend? Was that normal wear and tear on these tires?? Tire pressure?

Track day 7 and 8 on the fronts. By far the hardest that they had been pushed. Rears were replaced after the third track weekend. Pressures were 32 cold which yielded about 40 directly off the track.

no more AMG
Almost every Mustang I've seen on the tracks end up spinning (especially at Infineon). They might have a lot of power, but the handling is weak sauce.

Great video's by the way!
