Cooling Mods...
Hi all, Does anyone have any tips or mods for cooling on this platform yet? I have noticed that my 63 has been running a bit too hot for my liking and would love to tackle this issue as I have in the past with big HP cars. I always try to keep my cars running cool and smooth run after run consistently. My plan is to attempt retrofitting an oil cooler, thermostat, and possibly a larger aluminum custom radiator if need be. I have had great results in the past with my BMWs, Supras, RX7, Mustangs, and a number of other random vehicles in the past. My other question is, has anyone had any overheating issues when running hard on track/street and have gone into a limp mode? I ask this because, I have noticed my particular C63 seems to heat up rather quick and would like to find a way to prolong peak performance under harsh, heated, and spirited driving.
Thanks,
Anthony

anyone actually installed unit from MHP/Evosport/others and seen drop in temp? As discussed in other threads, we need to also accept that temps for C63 will run high as we are cramming a large engine is a smallish car and there is little place within the engine bay for heat to go. I too would like to lower temp to keep performance at optimal level and decrease stress on motor.

It would nice if someone who has fitted one of these thermostats could give us some feedback.
I noticed that when I coolant temp is between 85 - 88 degrees celcius I flow 320 - 325 grams of air. When the car reaches operating temp of 92 - 93 degrees celcius I only flow 295-300 grams of air.
@ Jae Duk - do you mean 10 degrees celcius?
I dont see a thermostat on the Evosport website.

Search the forum - there is a thread on this. General consensus was that an additional radiator would be the way to go. It might be possible to use the extra radiator from the CLK BS ahead of the the left hand wheel well, but I am not sure anyone has looked into it.
The car already has a decent sized oil cooler - with dedicated fan - on the right hand side, under the bumper (the air vents ahead of right wheel vent from that).

NS_63 , great info. Thanks. I haven't had a chance to accurately monitor temps yet but I just notice heat soak rather quick.
Sincity, a vented hood should help a bit but Im not sure I want to go that route just yet. I would like to give a thermostat or a thicker radiator a try first.
ATL_MB, Thanks for the great info. I will look into that.

Yes, the temps are a bit high for my taste, however I can tell you that even running the car VERY hard in the heat, there has never been an issue with our car, and yes I use on board datalogging, and have monitored it very closely. I do however want to do some testing on the low temp t-stat coupled with my datalogging.
