Two great cars. There is nothing that any of us can tell you that will matter more than you going and test driving the vehicles. You can't go wrong either way.

This pretty much sums it up: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...need-help.html
Nothing wrong with us discussing this again but the pros and cons are in there.

Yup...lucky *****! I had the same issue deciding between the two. I liked the power and sound of the C63. On the other hand, I liked the exterior (with 19" wheels) and interior of the M3 sedan. In the end, the discounts on the C63 from last year won me over.

when you go to test drive the c63 make sure you let the salesman start the car (stand beside the car) and then decide which one you and your son like

also will your son be tracking the car much???

I test drove the M3 twice, once w/ manual and the other with DCT. After having the old M3, I was expecting so much more with the V8 and was thoroughly disappointed. There were no C63's at the time to test drive, but my dealer started one up for me that was already sold and I was like...that's it...I want one. I am so glad I bought the C63. It is so much more fun than the M3's that I test drove. I think the M3's are fun at high RPM's but just not the monster that the C63 is.
To each his own though and the M3 is a very nice car.

ahahhah... I am also dam glad that I went for the C63. The start up growl every morning I get when the C63 welcomes me on board the cockpit is priceless! It does feel god-mod as a stock car. But if you want to be god-mod, upgrade the suspension and I guarantee you, you cannot be more pleased!

I had the same debate going on for a while, eliminated the M3, then the S5 snuck into the picture (I know, doesn't compare on performance, but sexy as hell)...
Then I started thinking if I'm spending that much money, why not consider the GT-R? So here I am, C63, S5, GT-R (pre-owned)
Anyone have any convincing arguements against the GT-R that might help?

The headroom in the backseat is much worse in a GT-R than it is in an S5. But since you'd almost never have any adults sitting back there, it's a moot point. What's your budget? I think the GT-R occupies a somewhat higher echelon in the automotive hierarchy than the C63 (even though I really like the C63) simply because it's just so immensely capable in so many performance categories, so if you want a car that even most supercar owners don't dare mess with, get the GT-R.
But if you need more practicality with your daily dose of sportscar fix, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better remedy than the C63.

I'm going to be the lone voice of reason here.. and the cranky old guy that yells "get off my lawn" to all the kids in the neighbourhood...
How old is your son.. and do you really want to get him a car that can kill him in an instant (google around for the kid who with 3 of his friends died in an M5). Whether you get the C63 or the M3, neither of them are forgiving of mistakes, and someone who has only been driving for a few years.. is going to make a mistake at some point, or going to try to show off for a girl or his friends. Granted, there are plenty of 30+ year old's who do the same stuff (ahem.. myself.. maybe... )...
A kids car.. should be a giant volvo station wagon.... okay I kid, a normal C class, or a standard 3 series BMW, maybe.. but I would steer clear of the M3 and C63...

I like the M3's technology better, it's about 10 years ahead of the MB in terms of features and integration. If I could do it over again I would definitely get the M3 over my C63.
The C63 is by no means a bad car, but it feels like it has 90s technology and a step backwards even compared to my 2007 335i I had before.
Also, overall the M3 is a much more focused car and everything is executed flawlessly and cohesively. In the C63 it really feels like they took a C300 and threw the 6.3 engine in it with a bad *** exhaust and race seats, but everything else is rather lacking IMHO.

iatacs, I would disagree with the statement that it is 10 years behind. the 2010 (the 2009 and previous fall a bit short regarding ipod integration) model does everything the M3 does and with a more user friendly face than the idrive. If you care to expand, maybe I am missing something.
