ECU flash question, considering my first mod

thanks to this great forum i am starting to get a little better idea of all the options available. one of the posting mentioned motorwerks in houston as a place where they do good work.
i asked for the cost of an ecu flash by kleemann and they told me around usd 1500.00 and they also told me they suggest Eurocharged as an alternative because they are local and you dont have to wait 3 days and the cost is usd 1299.00 with the same performance gains.
has any one used Eurocharged's flash yet?
what are your experiences with this flash?
experience with motorwerks or other?
i also asked what the charcoal delete/airfilter which they can do for usd 200.00.
is this worth it?

thanks for your suggestions tips!

Kleemann is a bigger company and have been around for longer time, and $200 difference would not warrant the risk.

By the way, you can remove the charcoal filters yourself in 5 to 10 minutes. There are a couple of DIY threads with pictures around here.

I would assume for $200 they are replacing your primary oem air filters with aftermarkets.

I have the Eurocharged tune and I am very happy with it. I payed quite a bit less than $1,200 (they ran a special a bit ago, was posted on the forum). Jerry is an outstanding guy and happy to spend time with you going over any of your concerns.
Just like the others have stated, Kleeman is better known and if both of them are local, you can't go wrong with either.

Tuners for C63

How about other tuners such as MHP, Renntech, EVO, etc...? What's their "character" respectively? How do they share this mod market?

You can remove the charcoals and leave the stock filters or replace with aftermarket. Either way is ok.

MHP goes for maximum power and have had the best and most consistent dyno and track results thus far (this is based on information from this forum and current dragtimes records). MHP cars have been running 11.2 to 11.5 @ 122 to 125 mph. RennTech is also one of my favorites as they provide top-quality products and excellent service. Their car is also close to mid 11s with 124 to 125 mph. Aside from those two tuners, no other tuner have had similar track success on the C63 platform.

I just found this one..
http://store.knfilters.com/search/pr...x?Prod=33-2405

And it should be easy, right? just remove charcoals and the stock filters, then replace the new one.. I think I can do that..And how often do you guys change the filter?

If you go with one of the aftermarket oiled filters like the K & N or BMC, then they can be used for a very long time as long as you periodically clean them and re-oil them every ~ 30,000mi. or so.

If you have MAF sensor failures, I am willing to bet that the dealer will blame it on the oily after market filter you installed...

Yes, sometimes both filters (from both manufacturers) come too oily.... you can either wipe down some of the oil before installing it or let it dry out on its own after you install it, but you'll have to deal with the CEL coming on and clearing it a couple of times. After that, it won't come on.

I have Eurocharged tune and charcoal delete, no CEL. Tune really made the car what it should have been from the factory.

FWIW, I've had oiled, high-flow K&N or BMC air filters on the past 3 cars now, and still haven't seen any MAF sensor or other issues related to the aftermarket oiled air filters.

Thanks for the precious comment! How about stability and reliability? Can anyone with more than one year their mod on your C63 share me with your experience? Such as idle rpm consistence, any odd fuel consumption.etc...
I don't want to trade in my"must daily detail care" with a few more power on the MAX edge. For example, oil type filter is kind of concern for me. The air condition here is much worse than one in the states so the change/cleaning frequency must be higher. The issue is how you re-oil it again properly without any problem. There are quite a few MAF sensor issue here. Don't take me wrong! I'd like to enjoy the bigger intake efficiency but you just need to know what you have to "pay for" besides money!

Thanks! You must do a good job on this! Can you share us more "tips" about how you do the re-oil?

I can testify for MHP. I drive this car like I stole it most of the time. It has had an MHP tune in it for way more than a year. Its been run in the "mile" twice and countless 1/4 mile runs. I have had "ZERO" issues with the MHP products. I mean ZERO. I know I am considered their poster child but the car has NEVER been in the shop for repairs and problems due to the MHP products and that speaks volumes!! Actually the car has never been in the shop for anything other than oil changes and performance upgrades.

I don't believe you will find better all around performance products from any other tuner than MHP. Yes, they are more expensive but you get what you pay for. Trust me, these parts are tested over time and they are still working excellently. Good luck with your mods.

Not all the new ones come over-oiled. Most of them came properly oiled, but I have seen a couple of BMCs that were over oiled and did cause a CEL on a friend's CLS63, which turned off by itself after half a day of driving.
