hankook ventus evo v12 review
This is my 1500 miles review for hankook v12 evo.
I decided to replace my rears only with the evos. I still have my p-zeros up front. So my review about the handling is somewhat limited.
The price was great and the Car and driver review with Tirerack pushed me in that direction.

I don't track my car and it's my DAILY DRIVER. Potholes are really bad here in Montreal, so I didn't want something too stiff or too noisy as I drive daily on a concrete highway.
so far, I love the evo.
1- So far they don't SEEM to wear as fast as the p-zeros wich seemed to have melted every time I came back from a spirited drive.
2- straight line grip is IMO better than the P-zeros.
3- Absorbs bad bumps better
4-driving in heavy rain or standing water is great, no aquaplaning.
5- Don't know about turn in response because I only have them in the back but probably not a good choice if you track your car.
6- wisper quiet
I decided put the 265/53 evo v12 on the stock back rims.
Now here is the funy thing:
the 255/35 p-zero mounted on the wheel, when the wheel was off the car so no weight on the tire, mesured 260 mm wide from sidewall to sidewall.
Now get this, the 265/35 evo when mounted on the same stock wheel not mounted on the car mesured 258 mm wide.
So the contact patch of the 255-35 p-zero was probably as wide or a little bit wider than the 265/35 evo. go figure. I never tought there could be as big a difference in measurement between two tire companies.
Had I known I would have put some 275/35 evo in the back.
Overall I think for me the overall package and price is really good.

I have the 245/40/18 and 265/35/18 EVO on my stock 18", they work great, may be the front is wider, the braking feel like a bit better, the only thing I found out is the front wheel and tire is a bit taller than the back, so If you intend to put 245/ 40 at the front, you should put 275/35 at the back for a better balance. Presently I have 19" wheels on with the Bridgestone R11, they are topnote but worn out so quick, I think it gone quicker than the PZ.

Not all tire sizes are created equal. For example the toyo t1r 275's look as wide as the pirelli 255's. Ive seen 315/25/20 toyo T1R's on e92 m3's, and thought they would look wider. But I compared those to 295's Continentals and Michellins, and they where the same width as the 315 toyos . I would later go for 275 hankooks after you wear yours down.

I've installed these tire on my car months ago first days they was incredible the best tire and one of my friends recommend them for me, then after 2K miles they went bad. After 3K miles I changed the tires to Michelin PS2 they're the best tires I ever had, also I have the 19' tire for my new wheels AMG 16-spoke.
