2006 BMW 325i
2008 vs 2009 c63
So I am upgrading from my 2006 325i to a c63 next month. I was wondering if there was anything I should be concerned about before buying a c63 other than going through tires and bad mileage. I have been searching the forum for about a month now, and it seems like the only problem I have found is when the you go full throttle the car goes into limp mode and the throttle dies. Has this problem been resolved and is there a fix for it? Some other things I've found on the forum was the issue with the ipod connectivity, but it was not entirely clear. The last problem was the mirrors in the 09 don't fold or tilt in reverse. I was wondering if this is true in the MY2008 as well? I am also interested in getting a revozsport front spoiler, but I only want the bottom part in c/f and the top part to be the painted fiberglass. Anyone know where I can order one of these and how much they cost? Are there any websites that sell cosmetic mods for the c63 because through searching I have been unsuccessful in finding any websites.

I know the mirrors fold when locked and on demand but I don’t think they tilt on reverse. The throttle limp home issue I think has been attributed to a bad throttle position center. I have experienced this in my G500 also

The limp mode issue seem to have happened to only 2 people on the forum and they had a tune. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
The car as you have read is very reliable and you just need to invest in tires and gas. You will love the power compared to your 325. It is like upgrading from a bb gun to a desert eagle.
Regarding ipod, if the car you buy has the ipod option then everything works fine and the only thing you may have to buy is an adapter to charge it and you will just not be able to control it with the center knob, just the steering wheel controls. the data will show in your dash but not the center multimedia.
Post pics when you get it.

get around the ipod crap buy using the flashcard option instead. i dont use the ipod cable for anything other then charging my 3g iphone and i had to buy and adapter to do that. i think the ipod cable in MY 09 is a waste unfortunately.....

The C63 is an amazing car. You need to also invest in botox to "relax" the smile you will have constantly while driving.
1. Thanks to GREAT forum members, we have some to some conclusions on the whole Ipod thing. Either just spend a couple grand and upgrade the '09 '08 wiring or either use ipod how it is or go to CF card. All are perfectly fine choices and you will still be able to hear your favorite tunes wither way. This, really is a minor issue, nevertheless
2. Tires will indeed go bald. Not so much because of "bad tire quality" or "the car has too much torque" but more that you will enjoy some burnout, spirited runs, and you will like the hard take offs...its your OWN enjoyment that causes premature balding and the other aforementioned factors also contribute
3. The throttle going into limp mode, from reading, has occured in severe conditions or temps. The car has some protective mechanisms, everything from over sensitive sensors to completely shutting down to prevent damage. I don't think that this is a common occurance because you rarely hear or read about it. There is more talk about how much oil gets burned as the engine breaks in than throttle limp modes...
4. I just changes my Perellis after 4,500 miles, and they were not TOTALLY bald but the wear bars were starting to show. I also just added my first quart of oil after the senor told me to check at next refuling. Other than these minor things, price/expense vs. reward is the final consideration.
Either way, getting an '08 or even an '09 will have you a fantastic car, great build with SO much knowledge in case you get stuck on any issues.
Congrats and cant wait to see pics...

THe canadian 09 mirrors fold down.
If you want the passenger mirror to tilt down in reverse just put it in the seat memory arangement wich includes mirror position (I think). When you put it in reverse, just press thhe appropriate memory button(saw that on another post)

Floor it.
ESP is off of course.
Then floor it.
LOL. It helps if you're in a burnout box too, and a front brake line lock would be even better for stand-still 4-alarm fire burnouts.

With a front brake line lock the front brakes will be engaged and the rears won't, so you won't burn up your rear brake pads while you go WOT.
With so much power you can floor the accelerator and practically sit still as the tires spool up into a smoke cloud if you're in a burnout box (as the guy is on the video) even without a line lock.
Go out and try it. You'll only burn up about $100 worth of tires each time, unless you stay on it

The folding mirror is standard in Canada and Europe (Aus?) but not the US. However, it is possible to retrofit this, and someone in this forum has done it. IMO that the C63 is a very safe car with lots of power and head room for tune, and you can't go wrong with choosing it over the likes of M3 or RS4.
