C63 5.5TT
Hi All,
For what its worth I have been told by an AMG Rep in Sydney that they have been told to expect to be able to place orders on a 5.5lt Twin Turbo C63 in the next 6 months.
The AMG person is a friend and I consider him reliable, this being said it could just be a play from my Merc Management to move current C63's as quickly as possible.
I post this to try assist those of us who are considering another purchase, best to be informed when spending the amount of money we do in Australia for a C63.
Regards
Dylan

Yes, thats what I hear on and off also.
From what source did you hear that ?
I know there was a thread on this forum earlier this year advising that an AMG source in Germany claimed the motor wouldnt be fitted to the C Class AMG as it didn't fit. The advice from my friend was only the second comment of which came from someone at AMG, I thought it worth sharing.

The "63" will be a model reference going forward with no relationship to engine size....
The S63 will be the first to have the 5.5TT and they're not changing the name to S55...it will still be the S63

I don't get this--I know our cars are technically 6.2L, but calling a 5.5L twin turbo an S63 is just dumb

They kinda screwed themselves with the numbering because once the go higher they don't wanna come back down....
I guess it's like putting a V10 in the R8....they don't call it the R10

If Brabus can fit a 6.5TT into a C class then MB should be able to do the same with a 5.5TT. The 4 into 1 headers occupy a great deal space right where the turbos would be located and there is plenty of wiggle room down there with a 63 motor.

Very, very good point. May be, for whatever reason, the "it won't fit" line is an official one from MB/AMG, I personally call BS on it. Besides., it'd totally make sense to use the same block for all AMG's as they did for the 63 engine.

Just to confuse everyone, MB will make the engine an actual 5.4 liter and they'll put 5.5 on the side, with a C63 badge on the trunk.
And MB why don't you add "Floor Matic" on the trunk too, just to make sure no one knows what the hell is going on.
All jokes aside, if someone gets a C63 with 5.5TT, he'll get that a lot: "Is it a real C63?". Kind of frustrating...

2011 C63 (soon)
If the current generation AMG C-Class does in fact receive the 5.5 bi-turbo engine then it will probably be dubbed the C56 AMG. Think how the C36 changed to the C43... and the C32 changed to the C55... looks like MB is up to their same ol' ways...
