Thanks. The color looks much more like "real life" in that photo. Better lighting today.

Very cool.

Yes, exactly. If you are only going to run a 275-wide tire, why not do it on a 9.5" wheel where it fits perfectly, saves you some weight and can be run with the proper offset.

Awesome.

Mine came with the wheels. One of the four boxes contained the four rings and center caps.

I've heard if you get vibrations with one kind to try the other.

So far no issues with the plastic rings. I'll put some highway miles on the car tomorrow and report back.

There was a post with an implication that plastic has a tendency to break down with heat over a time period as compared to metal. Something about heat transfer, possibly, from the brakes/rotors/hubs. Stay cool and drive responsibly. HTH

Here's something more than implication: During the Optima Challenge the center caps from my HREs actually melted and almost fell out. I'll see if I can find them and take pics. All the plastic retaining clips deformed, and the bodies were well out of round. To be fair, this was on a hot-*** day with a pro driver kicking the car's butt, so YMMV, but it's not inconcievable. I'd see if a local machine shop could make some alloy inserts. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Ouch.

You can buy polycarbonate and metal ones online. If these give me any trouble I'll move to something more durable.

The rings included with the Forgestars are Poly Carbon Plastic. Part Number HR74-6660 from CWA. -> http://www.cwausa.com/HubCentricRings.html (Oddly the P/N doesn't appear on this old list)

Gorilla Automotive also makes a set in Poly Carbon Plastic. -> http://www.gorilla-auto.com/hub.centric.rings

I bought a set of the them from Amazon just in case I have issues with the CWAs. -> http://www.amazon.com/Gorilla-Automo...dp/B002805T38/ (They had one set in stock. Not anymore. )

Unfortunately, I could not find any available metal hub rings in the right size.

Thank you.

We certainly have a bunch of cool C63 owners up here.

One more pic from yesterday, similar angle just further back . . .

Thanks, avb. Not as FLASHy as your red-hot ride but certainly built with purpose.

Haha. Good one! I'm sure your car will outperform mine on the track and likely on July 19th.

Man.....I need to get some more mods done or I'm gonna be left behind. This could get expensive. Any updates on that header/downpipe mod?

Heh, we'll see. You've still got the power edge.

Slight delay on the downpipes but still moving forward. I'll have them on the car on the 19th.

BTW, I'm thinking about getting that Revozport Carbon hood. Another ~45 lbs. of weight off the front would be lovely.

Beautiful picture.. one of the few that have been posted that truly do a car justice.

Although it's redundant by now.. the wheels do match the car very nicely! I'd say that the carbon hood would definately not only benefit towards the 'diet' you have in mind for you car, but it would also be another great overall accent piece.. maybe strike a deal for a diffuser as well to complete the look!

Also, if you ever get the chance, perhaps you could organize a mini photoshoot with these other C63 owners that you speak of, for a little bit of eye candy!

Looking forward to seeing more of your posts.

Cheers.

Thank you. I appreciate that.

I'm definitely thinking about the hood along with the diffuser. Nice balance for sure.

I'm sure we'll have many photoshoot opportunities in the next few months. Here are some from our last local meet -> https://mbworld.org/forums/pacific-n...ii-photos.html

More to come!

Meh. What's another 20rwhp gonna do? Haha. You've got DRs, less weight, and I'm sure way more track time than I've had (only been to a couple of TNTs, and definitely never with an AT).

And I vote a definite YES on that Revozport CF hood for the amount of weight you'd save!!! If you can get your car down to less than 3700lbs, that'd be killer!!!

I beat you to it! LOL when I use to run my HREs on the Viper on the track, I went threw 4 center caps each day!!!!!!!! LOL! yep, they melted out and were just gone, with no caps in the wheel by the end of the day, i use to keep buying more, then I ran without them, then I changed wheels....

noobie question about TPMS...why not just use the original TPMS when getting new wheels? i.e. why get a new set of TPMS?

That is certainly an option if you only want one set of working wheels/tires.

Superlubricity,

Great post as usual. You should add your crank pulley to the list of unsprung weight

I am pretty surprised you were able to fit the 18s (even without a lip) to fit over the front brakes. Good to see you were able to do it without a spacer. Long story short, when I put my wheels on with a 5mm spacer, I had a lot of vibration since the spacer covered up too much of the stock hubring.
