Fuel Consumption - Ouch!

Ok, so I knew from research that the fuel mileage on this car had the potential to be horrible. But I usually do better than estimates. Well, as you know, it's darn hard to drive this car slow. It seems I'm getting about 12.5 mpg and the fuel guage drops faster than an old lady's ****. Par for the course?

Oh, I'm not complaining. Just wondering. In my other cars that get 12mpg the fuel tank is a lot larger so the needle drops a little slower. But they don't sound nearly as good.

<---- 15.2 MPG average since day one w/ 5,600 miles on the odometer. (Mostly highway miles where I see ~19 MPG over a 15-mile stretch.)

Mileage will improve as the engine breaks in, especially above 10k miles.

Not bad. I'm almost all around town so I'm getting crap for mileage.

MPG isn't a big issue for me, it's the size of the tank that's bothersome. I hate having to make so many damn trips to the gas station.. just wish the fuel tank had more capacity! I average 12 mpg (sanely), so I'm refueling every three to four days.

Since we're on the topic, how many additional miles do you guys usually get when it hits reserve?

I agree. Give me a 25 gallon tank and at least let me get almost 300 miles between fillups.

Nearly found out the hard way..
When the needle is just touching the E line, there's about a half gallon left, added 16.5 gallons. You'll stop getting range info with about 20 miles to go. I think the light comes on at about 3 gallons left.

Yeah, the gas mileage sucks. I live in elevation, with heat and can only put 91oct, I also have to drive with the A/C from early in the morning in Tucson. It gets`in the 90 degrees early in the morning and also at night so like I said I have to drive with the A/C on all day thus the combination of factors makes my gas mileage bad. I still get mid 14's though(in city).
For comparisons my C63 is gas mileage wise is toe to toe with my Evo which runs E-85. I run about 15mpg on the Evo and have to fill up every 170-180 miles vs my C63 which I can do about 220miles(city). my .2c

when your fuel light switches to the image with your car at a gas pump you are VERY LOW like probably a gallon left. only happened once to me but when that image appears you better be pulling in a station!

i average about 20 on the hwy.. any mixed or semi aggressive driving puts me in the 15.5 range real quick.

Average will go up a bit after you put some miles on the car. I average 13.8 (manual compute, computer shows 14.4) with no highway driving but not high traffic city either.

I average 16 mpg but recently got 23.2 mpg on a long road trip to Vegas from San Diego. Cruise control was pegged at 80 mph. Pretty darn good for a 451hp near super car!

I used to get 9 MPG with my Escalade. So I'm actually pretty happy with the fuel consumption on the C63.

My average MPG for total time driven is about 12.0 but that's because of my occasionally trigger-happy right foot and about 75% city driving.
