It seems to me that the LF-A should've came from the factory with at least 700 hp to qualify as a supercar. For some reason, nowadays, 550 hp doesn't seem too high since almost all high performance sedans are now coming with 550 hp stock: upcoming M5, upcoming E63, CTS-V, RS6 (Euro), Porsche, etc....

That makes no sense. Who buys this cars could care less if an INFERIOR vehicle beats it. I have friends with Carrera GTs and 599s that dont give a **** if a 90k Nissan with some mods tries to race them on the freeway and beats them. The pure pleasure of driving a car of that magnitude with so much detail and craftmanship put into it it's an ownage to anything much much below their level. BTW I could care less for either of this 2 cars. However, if I had the money and had my 50 car garage w/ all my european dream cars, then maybe just maybe I would consider getting the LF-A if I was bored.

if you can look past the badge, the LFA is a pretty sweet technology art piece . It is always a balance point where one places craftsmanship or quality over the sheer power of the car. If we cared about is power, we would all be driving a big block chevy nova with skinnies doing wheelies racing from light to light, not that I would complain if that were actually happening.
I think those who are actually buying LFA probably has a lambo and/or a ferrari in the garage already.
garage already.

The person buying an LF-A isn't buying it as his/her only car. There's already 6 or 7 other cars in the stable. This car's a work of art, a collector's piece. The GT-R isn't in the same league. Hell, it's not even in the same sport.

Most people buying this car will put it at their 5 th home and drive it 450 miles per year. It's funny how u guys all have opinions about it yet haven't and most likely will never drive one. From what I understand, it's going to be a game changer like the nsx.

You can build a sub 10-second chevy nova for less than $50k - who cares.
It's about the class system of cars - prestige, exclusivity, uniqueness, style, ego.... I personally think the LF-A is butt ugly and my corvette is faster.. but then again I could never afford one.. and neither could 99.9% of you guys - so our opinions don't mean jack.
When you can afford to buy a $400k car, feel free to have an opinion that matters.

Most people don't buy a car strictly because it's the fastest. I've had my *** handed to me by $7k spec Miata's on the track, but that doesn't that mean I'm going to go out and get rid of my C63. People are buying the LFA for the craftsmanship that went into it and the pure fact knowing that when they buy one there are only 499 others in the world. You can amaze (or bore) your friends telling them that the carbon fiber used on the car is constructed in one of only 2 looms that exist in the world, or that a regular RPM guage can't keep up with the revs so they had to use a digital one, etc etc. I'm not a fan of the car, but I would say it has some pretty damn cool features.
With that being said, the GT-R is just a Datsun, and the LFA is just a Toyota

The only thing that would make the difference in this situation is handling. Im sure the LF-A can beat the GTR on the twisties. But honestly unless your tracking both of those cars you wont ever seen those rewards.
Yes you can dump 50K into a track car and beat them all. That is also a good point. But now were talking pure track cars. Thats a whole other world.
In the end I understand your point though. Your pretty much saying just the fact you spent 400K on it lets you sleep better at night. I disagree though. It would **** me off big time I spent 400K and got handled by a teenager. Were talking stock for stock here. That point makes a huge difference.
Just like the SL63 that is getting beaten by a C63 with an ECU flash. MB purposefully detuned the C63 for that very reason. You cant have your "inferior" AMG street race car beat the more expensive "Superior" AMG race car. I guess MB see's my point as well.
