400hp TTV6 slated for 2014 next gen C AMG
Hidden away in the July edition of Automobile magazine on page 14 is an article titled "Future Benzes". Two cars are mentioned, an estate version of the new CLS and a new C class hatchback due in 2014 tentatively labeled the CLR. The article mentions that "the engine range will be topped off by a twin turbo V6 good for 400hp in AMG trim". If and I stress if this comes to fruition I would be shocked to see two different motors(5.5TT) available in the C class lineup.

So there will be an "AMG trim" model with V6 TT as well as a full "AMG" model with V8 TT? Or the next C AMG will not get the 5.5 TT?
I'm confused......

It sounds to me that is going to be the same V8 engine minus two cilynders, sort of like what GM does with their V8 engines and V6 engines(chopping the last two cylinders off)

BMW does the same w/ their 3-series, M3 & M5... 0.5 liters per cylinder on all their engines pretty much, 3.0L I-6, 4.0L V8, 5.0L V10.
Most likely the C will get TT V6 (sort of like C32 again, but larger displacement turbo instead of Komp), and the bigger models will most likely get TT V8, S63 being the first supposedly. Everyone is downsizing so MB is no different.
The good thing is getting extra power out of either engine will probably be a piece of cake since they will be turbo.

Especially on a cold morning... the deep rumble wakes all my neighbours up.. I love it
The way I read it (I could be wrong), is that the std AMG variant of the C will still get the TT V8, the hatchback version will get the TT V6, that would make more sense. Can you imagine a giant V8 (or even a small one) in a tiny hatchback.. thats like... murder/suicide
Also, where in SA are you, I grew up in Port Elizabeth.

Its been stated from the begining that the C class will most likely never see the 5.5TT.
We shall see...

My guess is that we would get 5.5TT but again detuned to similar numbers as in current C63, just enough to beat M3 & RS4.

I will never buy another C-Class AMG if they go back to putting an inferior engine compared to the other models in the lineup, unlike the current C63. Can you imagine a new C AMG with less HP and TQ than we currently have (even if it can be tuned for more because it will have a turbo)? That seems like a backward step and would put MB right back where they were before the C63, unable to compete with BMW and Audi with their entry level models.

CAR magazine this month just released the numbers for the V6TT... Ironically enough the rating is identical to the 2002 W210 E55 AMGs @ 354HP / 391TQ.... not sure which set of numbers are the accurate ones... tough to say
whether this is just some underrated figure for marketing purposes, or accurate is tough to say. Most likely benz will sandbag the numbers as they usually do. They probably just put the same numbers as the NA 55s for strategic reasons, time will tell....
