Tires: 275/35-18 on rears with no rubbing list

ever since i went through my stock tires, i've been on nexens the whole time. i'm thinking of trying something new this time around and while shopping around i remembered that not all tires will fit on the rear of the c63 without rubbing or the possibility of rubbing after hitting a bump. i was almost considering the falken fk-452, but i did a search here and found that a member tried them and there was no way it wasn't going to rub.

i figured that members could post here of the tires they have on their car with no issues on the stock suspension and stock wheels. if you've made changes to your suspension or not on the stock wheels, please don't post. it will most likely not be the same.

my contribution

Nexen N3000 - 2-3 sets, no rubbing, long lasting, high speed rating

Nitto 555 Extreme 275-35-18 300 thread wear.

The highs:

Absolutely no issue with rubbing
much cheaper than the stock POS Pirelli
much improved traction
Enhanced appeal
Enhanced comfort
Improved mileage
Lower cabin nosie due to 100 rpm drop in 7th gear at 75mph

Lows: NONE

Lets me sum it up, you can buy any tire in the market and it will outperform the POS Pirelli that the car comes with. Might as well just put a bicycle tire in the back and show the AMG engineers that they are also a POS when it comes to make a tire and rims wicth choice. Sorry, I can never reconciliate with the fact that we have the most powerfull powerplant with the most skinniest tire in the entire planet!

A bit noisy, but the price was right and dry/wet grip is impressive for a tire in this price point. No complaints.

I thought these tires were lame on my last car. They are pretty cheap though.

5600 miles on the first set. Not doing burn outs and with about 3000 miles out of those 5600miles being a long trip. In other words 60% of the wear was done on HWY. As far is wet traction. Well. I haven't seen much rain since last August. Hopefully we will get the moonson season soon and get some water on the roads.. it is hot as hell here in Tucson..

Had these on my M3. Good tire at a good price. Somewhat noisy tho. Didn't bother me.

Anyone know how well the Continental ExtremeContact DWs fit in the rear with 275/35? I haven't personally measured tread width but sectional width is at 11.2 inches.

What I just put on my C63 w/PP suspension. No rubbing issues at all.

Although I now have major suspension handling issues on the highway. Hopefully alignment will fix this, others have had no issues though.

Okay so it's confirmed -- DW's 275/35 R18s will not rub in the rear. The car appears higher now too, so just a word of caution for those who want to roll with the DWs in that size.

Is the increase in height very noticeable or is it a slight increase?

A good cm. Looks even more so considering how thick the sidewalk and tread look. Pairing it with 245 in the front makes the car appear slightly lifted. Haha I'm already considering going down one size all around. Granted I'm running on stock wheels -- if I ha wider wheels the tires would look more low profile.

I'll try to snap some pics tonight.

Thanks for the insight. Do you think 265 rear and 235 front would look better?

If you could take pics from the side of the car and directly from the back that would be awesome.
Thank you.
