WEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!! I know, I'm NUTS. Stand in line to claim that line.
Do I see a Dad and Jrcart showdown in the near future? Two absolutely fine examples of the 63.

If you look closely at the pictures you'll notice there are no fuel or nitrous lines hooked up. We just got the tanks installed last week. Hopefully we'll get all the lines and wiring done over the next few weeks. Lets see how she does with the nitrous before we start pairing me up with someone like JRCart. I gotta walk before I can run. Hopefully by the end of the summer she'll be ready to race again!!

Looks great, it is unbelieaveable the amount of work involved. I remember back in September of 2004 when my Mitsubishi Evolution 8 MR arrived at the dealership( one of 1000) and people would argue with me about the MR model having a 5lbs lighter aluminium roof for better handling vs standard steel roof like the other Evos.

Fast forward 6 years and now when I see you are going with 42lbs weight savings just from the roof alone, that is going to be dramatic when you talk about body roll and handling. It looks like you are very determined on your project car. Best of luck!

The collective savings from those mods should show a noticeable difference in 1/4 mile and lap times I think.
+1

And the more the weight reduction's effect would show if it is taken from unsprung weight and weight up top.

Nitrous? NITROUS? DadsC63 you are certified. All of us on the forum are gonna get some money together to get you one of these:

I think we might be able to get one at a discount from Russia. They might be having a yard sale sometime soon...What are you...a large? XL Maybe to fit your oversized nut sack...

Thanks guys! We are just having fun!! Will post up more pics of the C/F roof Monday or Tuesday when I can.

Has anyone tried to run 265's on the front with 8-1/2" rims for road racing?

I don't know why this guy didn't just buy a higher performance car to begin with.

I applaud him for his efforts. A heavy luxo sedan without supercharger or turbo running with ZR1s and Carrera GTs in the standing mile is incredible! Some people would consider that a pretty serious sleeper. I don't think anyone has truly tapped out a 63 to date and am very interested in how this and the nitrous project turn out. Good luck Dads!

Boost Gomez,
What would that be?? Thats the problem with the C63 and its potential. What do you get next that will outrun it? With just L/T headers, tune, and race prepped heads she stays with almost any exotic. Then you add cams, some weight reductions, and potentially nitrous and there isn't any other four door sedan that will come close.

Also, like its been so well stated, its a passion.

C63 507 AMG DA Car #19
##

The comment about why not just buy a faster car to begin with struck me........

There are two ways to go fast.... 1) just buy the fastest car you can find, OR 2) experiment, search, investigate, and modify your car in stages in a way no one has done to date.......

FYI - Option 2.0 is called hot rodding. It's been around a long time and it's the fun method.

We all benefit from Dad's63 trail of mods. A big thanks for having the guts to pull this off and to lay it out on an internet forum for all to see and comment on.

And bravo to a guy running low 11's without a blower in a street legal car.

What is your investment so far? How much you pay and how much invested?

Cant wait to see some NOS runs though!

post# 61 for my performance investments.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...-record-3.html

The other investments are ones you can research like DTM front bumper(saved 9#), C/F hood(saved 40#) and the C/F roof(saved 40#).

For what you get, you can't beat the investment in a C63!

Keith: How much does the sunroof assembly weigh? Furthermore, how much does the glass itself weigh? I wonder if anyone would reproduce an insulated CF piece to replace the glass as a cheaper alternative to shave some weight. I gather that the roof skin couldn't weigh that much since the sheetmetal is thin up there.

The sunroof assembly weighs 33#. I have no idea what the glass weighs. I would guess the glass probably weighs half that.

+1 The passion and love of the journey itself is where most of the joy and fun exist. Taking your car and converting it into something special and unique - all while making it the quickest/fastest sedan in its class is definitely noteworthy. I, for one, am very glad to have watched Keith's efforts from day 1 and will continue to support him all the way to the end

Cudos for raising the bar Dads.

I think the real question is what are you going to do about your rears? I can't imagine that even the stickiest 275s will be able to handle that amount of power. Wide body mod coming up?
