So what does one do when the process of synchronization doesn't work? I just installed a Genie rolling core opener. I clear the old codes on the cars, hold the remote near the mirror, press both buttons, and the amber light flashes slowly forever. It never changes from a slow flash. I had no problem with my old Craftsman (LiftMaster) unit.
I've tried this on both my 2010 ML63 and 2010 C63, and they both exhibit the same behavior. I've tried with the ignition in accessory mode, ignition mode, and with engine running.
What am I missing?
Update:
Was finally able to get both cars programmed. There seems to be no logic to when the car finally accepts the signal from the remote. I just kept trying over-and-over until they rapid flash occurred, and then the rolling code programming portion went off without a hitch.
Way to difficult for something that should be easy.
Thanks,
Joe

Yes, this is what I just added to my garage. You program the repeater to the door control, and the car to transmitter that comes with the repeater.

I thought I wrote this up once before. It's a two step process. You'll need to sync the car to the remote and then sync your car to the garage door opener. These are independent of each other.
Background: the remote is (or should be) already married to the opener itself. You nned to educate your car so it acts like the remote. Once done, then sync the car to the opener.
It is a two step process.
Good luck.

If you want to use the homelink buttons in the car, you need a homelink repeater (https://secure.homelink.com/homelink...ter-kit-detail) to act as a communication link in between the car and opener.
I'm sure the homelink system in the C63 got updated at some point. No idea which year though.

Not sure if you are referring to my post or not. If you are, the 2010 C63 homelink system doesn't sync to the remove because Chamberlin/LiftMaster updated their security protocol to Security+2.0 in 2011 which is not compatible.
