So if someone asked why they should buy a C63 over a M3, what would you tell them?

2010 Irridium Silver MB C63 AMG Sedan
The M is like the rich snobby kid that everyone pretends to like for whatever reason. The C63 is the bad-*** that punched the rich snobby kid in the face.
The C63 has way more character without even trying. Its raw and unrefined without caring what anyone thinks about it. The M is fake and trys to compensate for it's lack of power with its handling. Last time i checked, we dont drive on race tracks everyday.
Don't even get me started on the exhaust note. That would be like comparing the bark of a pitbull to the bark of a yorkie.
Go with C63. It's a beast, not a poser. Enough Said.

....Damn that was sooooo good I feel like doing the dance from when the guy on stage hears, "Dwane, in little Jessy's case, you are NOT the father....."

Hey Captain Obvious, thanks for the update. The 6.3 moniker is not intended to be an exact measurement.
I hope your momma is close by when you discover that the BMW335 doesn't have a 3.5 liter engine (3 Liter TT) and that a 550 doesn't have a 5 liter (4.8L). GASP, THE HORROR!
My understanding of the 6.3 badge is that it harkens back to the 300 SEL 6.3. A similar experiment where they shoehorned a 6.3 liter MB limo engine into a 300 SEL. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_300SEL_6.3.

Tell them you wanted to buy a lion but bought a 6.2 liter BEAST instead. Lol
Dont get me wrong, both are great cars. But the C63 is just a monster compared to the M3.

If you like technology more then the M3 is the better choice.
You get dual-clutch transmission and electronic damping control. Cool things like CF roof, better iPod/iPhone integration, better navigation, etc.
But you are asking in a C63 forum, what kind of answers do you expect? lol

335i, does not say 3.5 anywhere in the car...so obviously they are not trying to say the car has 3.5L engine...
Whereas the C63 has 6.3 written on it.
If they had no 6.3 written on the car, and only named it C63, then I wouldn't say anything, cause a car company can name their car whatever the heck they want.
But when you put 6.3, with the "." there, it just makes most people who don't know about this car, think it has a 6.3 liter engine...You may think its obvious, but I think most car fanatic who have not done as much research as C63 owners may not know this...

Good point! I can see that. Perhaps I took for granted that we all assume that these guys (MB, BMW) use their naming conventions consistently. Your point about the 6.3 on the front fender is a good one. I jus took offense at your snarky remark, as if we are all fools... I look forward to seeing you at a red light one day. Cheers!
Cheers!

we had a european car meet this weekend and the majority had m3's and there were some gt2's and gt3's . the funny thing about it was people liked my car the most since i was the only modded mercedes there . there was a guy there with a modded m3 from HPF . it had the stage 3 kit and that thing was incredibly quick . i still wouldn't trade my car for any of those

Lots of great comments from mature C63 owners with very pertinent experience.
However I find NellyRod's comment below less helpful, but perhaps I am not taking it with enough 'tongue in cheek' not knowing NellyRod well.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I will at some point have to put my money where my mouth is an order one of these cars (C63 or M3) and I find the most helpful comments to be those from passionate supports who are able to objectively recognize that both cars are fantastic enthusiast vehicles, and that they both have faults.
Thanks for the great reading everyone.

I have to say 95% of the comments in this thread are full of **** and completely biased (only because most people here own the C63). People fail to accept that both are great cars and have their ups and downs. I bought my C63 not because i thought the M3 was **** but because it was the one I thought was better overall. I also test drove the M3 and really liked it, specially the handling and other features like adjusting suspension settings which our car doesn't have, not to mention the transmission it's much faster than the AMG. So please stop making this idiotic threads, it's all bout preference and everyone's opinion.

I think I may be well qualified for this discussion, considering I just traded a '08 M3 on my C63. I had a fully loaded E90 M3 sedan other than the DCT. It was a 6-MT. I will compare stock to stock, which is what I usually keep the cars as. The M3 was a very competent car, and fun to drive under certain conditions. The biggest problem for me, was how dull and numb driving the M3 was in everyday settings. There was no soul or drama to the act of driving it, unless you were at 9/10ths+ on a back road. Around town, on the interstate, and the normal places of life...it just wasn't fun, it didn't make driving feel special. I still own both a '02 E46 M3 and a '88 E30 M3, and both are fun and soulful in everyday settings. The E30 is the most neutral handling car I've ever driven, and at around 2,900 lbs, is like driving a go kart. The power is not too much, and rarely too little...its just fun. The E46 is also fun, but in a different way. Its also MUCH better looking than the current model in my opinion. They both, in different ways, make your drive more pleasurable. The E90 on the other hand feels absolutely overweight, callous, and annoying compared to the other two. To get the most out of it (i.e. any decent torque), you have to be above 5k rpm, which always makes it feel like its trying too hard.
By comparison, the C63 has much more character and "drama" than the E90. It somehow feels more special. You don't have to reach "the top shelf" to access the torque, its available whenever you want it. And the sound...my god the sound. The M3 is very "tinny" and mechanical, like a Ferrari but not as good, and doesn't "sound" powerful. The C63 on the other hand, sounds the part. The M3 handles slightly better on a track, but the limit of grip is more camouflaged. I know exactly when the back is going to step out of the E46, and I know it will be easy to manage. The E90 may be as easy to manage...but in a corner you're unsure of when it will decide to break traction. The C63 communicates this limit much better in my opinion.
In summary, I got rid of the M3 due to its "blahness." I'm sure its great on a track. But 99%+ of my time is on public roads, where the C63 just feels more "fun" and "special."
Oh, and the iPod intergration in the Mercedes is MUCH BETTER than the BMW's, at least in pre-2011 models.
