Because I had already tried the device in my 2010 without success, while others apparently have fiound that it works in the 2011, I decided to ping ViseeO to see what is anything has changed. Their response:
"It will work with any year of Mercedes that has the original, factory fitted
iPod interface. It should fully control through the screen and car controls
on your music library but apps are subject to change depending on updates from the developers so we could not guarantee the compatibility with Spotify, Pandora etc. "
So who knows on what vehicle it will or will not work.
Regards,
Joe

OK, I tried three docking devices and only 1 works. My car is a 2011 C63 with Nav and the IPOD kit. The IPOD kit that came with the car has a cable in the glove box that has 2 ends, one with the 30 pin apple connector, the other with the 3.5mm stereo plug. You can only use either IPOD or Aux, not both.
I was hooked up hardwire to my iphone 5 and using Pandora and it sounded great. Tried the following three devices from Frys Electronics:
1) NAXA NAB-4000 $20: Hooked it up to the 30 pin and it would not recognize the device when I selected the IPOD. Tried Aux and nothing there also.
2) iLive IAB53B $15: Same as above, would not recognize it.
Now I read on here where a few guys made the above devices on a 2008 and 2009, but no dice on my 2011.
3) NAXA NAB-4002 $25: This has dual outputs, one 30 pin and one 3.5mm Stereo plug. Would not work on 30 pin, but works with 3.5mm stereo plug. First you have to charge it for a while before it works. Then push in the pair button and hold it until blue light comes on. It pairs up and works fine in Aux. I compared it to the hardwire and the sound is a little softer, but all you have to do is turn it up just a little to be the same. Phone works fine. It also automatically hooks up every time you come back to your car. Only thing it doesn't have is any music information or the ability to fast forward from the steering wheel, you have to fast forward with your phone on Pandora. Oh, and the good news, it comes with both cables you need, a short charge cord (you have to supply car adapter with USB port, I already had a few around) and a short 3.5mm cable.
I'm happy, for $25 it's a good solution.
EDIT: A couple of other points. My 2011 has the Harmon Kardon premium sound system, don't know if that matters or not. Also, when I got home, Pandora was breaking up a little when I was in the garage. I turned off WiFi on the phone and it was fine.

Again, can you change tracks on steering wheel, and see correct data on dash and flip up screen when streaming Pandora or Spotify??

Haven't ever tried Pandora in this car, but Play Music and Amazon MP3 both work.

Now I'm torn, I have to order something which makes returning it a pain. I'm either getting the Blackberry Stereo Gateway or the Tune2Air. I like the idea of the Tune2Air having the display and the steering wheel controls, but I'm a little concerned because every time I put something other than an IPOD in my 30 pin connector it will not recognize it.
EDIT: I'm going for the Tune2Air, looks like it has great features if it works good. And looking at the Amazon reviews, most do work properly. Plus the returns at Amazon are very easy for a mail order house.

Update on the NAXA NAB-4002. I thought it worked great until I realized when you leave your car for more than a couple of hours the bluetooth shuts down and when you get in your car, you have to open the glovebox and push and hold in the pair button on the unit. Not acceptable. So this one is also going back.

I have a 2011 and it has the factory IPOD cable that is split and has a 30 pin and a 3.5mm stereo jack. The IPOD I have in the glovebox works great with the 30 pin, no problems.
Looks like this one in an ebay auction.....

$90 just to not have to plug in? Seems ridiculous. With that said, does it work for *******g android because i hate that *******g cord hanging out of my glove box

Yea, $90 seems really expensive to eliminate a cord. But if it displays the song name and allows fast fwd through the steering wheel then it's worth it. Plus I forget and leave my phone in the car about a third of the time.

It works for my Android phones, but it DOESN'T display names of artists. But you can skip tracks using the steering wheel or rotary dial.
The sound quality is pretty damn great, and it connects immediately to the phone.

It all depends on who you ask and what year car. It does not stream while having screen visibility and use of steering wheel controls on my 2010.
I think the thread has gone in multiple directions. The tune2air works great as a bluetooth solution if you play music from the Apple library. There is no demonstrated consistent solution to get full car functionality across all model years while streaming from Pandora, Spotify, etc.
I have full functionality when hooked to the MB interface cable.... except for the same lack of control over streaming. I believe this is an MB issue, not the interface devices or apps. It seems that the 2011 may work, and then once we get to 2012, there is full functionality.

Joe

yeah, it all depends. I'd say get one and give it a whirl, as long as you can return it. I have full functionality and display with tune2air in my 2009 when I'm using iTunes, pandora, spotify. when I'm watching YouTube or homeland on sho.com, it even displays that on the instrument cluster.

It's hard to understand how this functionality could be removed fom 2009-2010. What are you hooking the tune2air to in your car? I have the MB dual cable (aux and 30 pin).
Thanks,
Joe

OK, I ordered the tune2air and will return it if it doesn't display the songs and allow me to use the steering wheel controls while listening to Pandora. I also have the dual 30pin/3.5mm pigtail like Joe's, so I'm a little worried. If it doesn't do all that, then it's good to see that this cheap solution works.
How's the volume and sound? Also, do you have the dual pigtail in the glove box that has the 30 pin and 3.5mm jack?d Last thing, do you have to pair the phone to the unit again if you leave the car for a few hours or overnight?
