Here is a dumb question. When is the best time to check the oil level?

First thing in the morning when the engine is cold or after the engine is up to temps?

The difference would be very minor with the amount of oil our cars have (9 liters). Just make sure to take out, dry stick and dip. Also make sure the car is leveled =)

Did you try Red Line brand 0w-40 oil? My engine temps have gone down big time and I'm no longer burning any oil under hard stress (lapping, etc). Really worth it.

Can I mix the redline with mobil 1? Where can I find it? Walmart didn't have 0-40. Will try crappy tire

No you should not mix them. Check Red line oil's website for dealers, usually performance shops have it.

Dealer will top up for free if you drop in. At least Mavis does. Also get to know your Parts Dept guys and you should be able to swing the 20% shop discount when you buy a case.....

In Ottawa, we can get it at Partsource for around 8$/L... not sure if they have it in TO. Walmart & Canadian Tire don't have it.

Walmart

Usually I buy 10 quarts at a time. A lot of times walmart doesn't have enough. Last night I bought 6 quarts at walmart as that's all they had once again. Then I went over to Crap Tire and bought 4 more. Hard to find.

Sometimes I just get lazy and buy Motul 5W40. Better oil than mobil 1 and it comes in 5 quart jugs. I think this might be the last time I go through the effort to buy mobil 1 0w40.

None
You can try:
NOCO LUBRICANTS COMPANY
2 BRADPENN RD
ETOBICOKE,ON M8Z 5S9
416-201-9800

You'll likely have to buy by the case though.
