Picking up my car today!

What is the best way to break in my engine? and please don't say drive it hard. I'd like to break it in pretty conservatively. I'm going to be picking it up and driving about 318 highway miles back home. Thanks guys -Steve

Driving a brand new car on the high way at a constant rpm for long distances is probably the worst thing to do before you break in the car.

Exactly so!
Having broken in over 30 HI PO autos, if you are going to spend the first miles on a highway because of delivery option, constantly vary the RPM and even the gear. In a C63 alternate between 3rd and 4th and keep juicing the RPM up to 4500. That is how I broke in my C63 and it has burned zero oil in 1750 miles.

I agree with lots of varying the engine speeds. I also try to generate lots of heat cycles (so short drives, let it cool off, then drive some more, etc.).

When i got my car there was a small sticker on the top left corner of my window explaining break in procedure. I think it said don't exceed 80 mph, dont exceed 4,500rpm and not to rev match downshift after. Its gonna be a tough 1000miles. lol
I drove the car aggressively the 1st thousand miles. Haven't had any problems with it. (knock on wood) The car will actually adapt to your driving style.
