Every time I hear an M3 w/DCT downshift/throttle blip, I want one.

Ears are fine. C63 has a deeper growl. Not hard to hear. You were in a tunnel dude. Next time im going to the city ill open my windows in the holland and you will see.

Also the sound clip in the city will give the same results. Sound bouncing off the buildings.

The car sounds sweet, no question. Just isnt as deep as a C63.

i was under the impression that since 'm' is pronounced 'em' that one should use 'an' rather than 'a'. Or am i missing some kind of joke....?

I was wondering the same thing. It is correct to say "an" M3.

I also use "an". Of course, now I have to go check all of my closets for cocksters. I hope I don't have to lay out traps again.

I was busting his b*lls and trying to sound like a 'cockster' ..... guess it got lost.

Here, and explained in good cockster fashion:

Technically you're supposed to use 'a' before consonants and 'an' before vowels.

But in English writing it can be used based on pronunciation because written vowels are all based on phonetic vowels. Phonetically, vowels are technically pronunciations and the vowel letters themselves are just symbols of those pronunciations.

You wouldn't write "an union" but instead "a union." But it's okay to write "a M3" or "an M3." Same with 'history.' It's "a history of cars" not "an history of cars." But it's okay to write "an historical novel" and also "a historical novel." Although "a M3" or "a historical novel" is the proper way.

Cool your jets new guy, I've heard a C63 downshift countless times. Note I didn't say anything about the C63 in my post; only that when I hear the M3 crack off a downshift blip, it makes me want one. Both cars sound excellent.

I will have to defer to you, since you obviously have the credentials. But, "a M3" just sounds wrong, doesn't it?

M3 is a great car...why the need to compare?

I assume you've driven one, and feel this way. I was always a BMW fan over Benz when looking for a sporty car, but when I drove the C63, well, just upon starting the car, and revving it a bit, I already loved the car...and I am glad I decided to get one!

I honestly think that 99% of C63 owners do have enough money to buy an M3 as a second car as well...so just go for it.

Actually, it would be "an S65."

If the word is pronounced as a vowel (remember, vowels and consonants are phonetic and the letters merely symbols) then it's appropriate to use "an."

So, you are doing the same with M3. In this case, "M" is "em." And in the case of the S65, it's "es" as "S."

"A steel chassis." "An S-curve." "A success story." "An S65 AMG."

Technically you would say "a S65," but just as you said with "an M3," it's best to write "an S65."

My wine came out my nose when I hear this. So sorry about your desires. You don't always have to like the nicer hinge in life. The styling is horrible. Stick with MB and/or Audi. Maybe someday you'll understand
