c63< s4
so i was dead set on picking up a c63, but have changed my mind. i went and looked/drove a '10 s4 this weekend and am sold on it! the interior and features are great on the fully loaded "prestige" model. power checks in @ 333bhp 325tq, but it feels a bit quicker than that. transmission is the most significant feature on this car! ultra quick twin cluth shifts that are racecar like and instant...2 thenths of a second between shifts to be exact. waiting for the '11 to arrive so there still is time to change my mind, but idk its pretty gangster and 10k less than a benz

new car warranty covers everything, but thanks for the heads up. you should check the new s4 out since you were a quattro fan before

While the S4 is a great car. It is not in the same league as the C63, no bias there..just fact. The C63 has the largest displacement N\A motor under the hood and the brakes and chassis to compliment it.
I am not sure why Audi put a Supercharger in the S4 knowing that most manufacturers are turning to turbo technology especially in smaller displacement engines, as an EVO owner you know exactly what I mean. Plus Audi conquered turbo technology over 25years ago..why go to a supercharger that befuddles me.
Fact is I would take your EVO over a new S4, the EVO is much more of an involving driver's cars, it does everything perfectly, except for the low budget interior (the seating, pedal arrangement and Recaros are great though)
Audi interiors are wonderful..I give them that...but their depreciation is awful and makes ownership (unless you are in it for the long haul) very expensive.
Good luck to you!

Audis are great cars man. The S4 is terrific. But dude, the C63 is on another level. 100+ more hp/tq level. Totally different cars.
Most consumers seriously interested in a C63 wouldnt touch an S4.

Even if the warranty covers everything, I'm pretty sure you'd be extremely annoyed to be continuously going back to the dealership.
Mercedes are built solid. There really isn't a comparison. 333hp on a S4? vs a C63's 451?

Sorry gOt BoOsT but what kind of reaction did you expect to get with a thread like this on an AMG forum?
You may be right, you may be worng....it's your opinion and you're unlikely to get a positive reaction on here. My guess is that it doesn't bother you (and why should it) but on the flip side, other forum members shouldn't give this thread the attention you want it to be given!
As a comparison, I previously owned an e92 M3 and am still a very active member on the UK BMW e90 forum...yet I don't go on there with any attempt to promote the AMG over an M3 - it just wouldn't be appreciated!
Still, I don't doubt that the S4 is a nice car but in all honesty, it's not a C63 AMG competitor - you'd need the previous or forthcoming RS4 to give the best like for like equivalent!

Is there a new RS4 our already? Isn't the RS4 more of a comparison here?
S4 = 335i = C350?
RS4 = M3 = C63?
My experience on the 3 liter turbo engine (335i) will make the car feel fast below 5000 RPM, so on test drives, the car is super perfect...that is what made me buy the car in the first place...but in the end, when you get the car, and rev it to redline, I realized, there was nothing above 5000 RPM...where as when I test drove the C63, I made sure I hit redline to see what it does.
IDK, if I were to choose, I'd still get the C63, its just in a different class...

S4? Maybe it has a nicer interior, I'll give it that, but we sure didn't buy our C63s for the interior! We bought it for the gas pedal.
And did you even test drive the C63? If you haven't don't because it will ruin your view of the S4.

I was briefly an Audi owner with an S6...it was actually the AWD and LEDs that sold me on that car, not power. Anyhow, I went back to Benz.
Audi's are great cars btw, you get more car for your money IMO. Whereas you pay more for the mercedes name

I test drove a 2010 loaded s4 this weekend. It might be the best bang for your buck Audi has ever made...just as good as the 07-08 RS4? No, but pretty close. Either way, it’s not saying much.
The main problem I had was it felt like you were driving a really fast golf cart with all wheel drive. They engine is lighter than previous models and pushed back a few inches to help balance the car but even with the 60/40 split it didn't feel exceptionally grounded or gave me any confidence that I can take "that" exit at 80mph and not end up in a ditch.
How could you handle that steering? It's so, so, so light. There is just no feel. Same with the gas. Zero feedback, zero resistance. I thought it felt slower than the e46 M3 which also made 333hp but without the SC. Didn't matter because you couldn't hear or really feel the SC anyway. Too quiet.
As I was going through the gears I remember thinking that I was driving a semi quick car that felt like it was engineered and designed for my mother...maybe it was. However, I do agree with the OP regarding the tranny. The shifts were quick, smooth and seamless. I also agree somewhat with it having a nice interior. I thought the dash was engaging. I didn't spend any time playing with the bells and whistles because, quite frankly, I knew after 3 mins of driving, the car wasn't for me.
Obviously this goes without saying but...IN NO WAY does this car match up to the C63 or M...or even the 335 in my book. It is still an Audi...the dash will look like a Christmas tree 75% of the time regardless of its warranty. Debadge it and you might lose it in the plethora of other identical Audi's with you on any given road. No flavor!

The OP obviously knew by putting a title c63<s4 he would get a negative reaction. That being said my bro has a chipped s4 with full exhaust and its still nowhere near as fun, mean sounding, involving, and fast as the c63. I really do not get why they went supercharged instead of turbo.
It would make sense to turbo since it was done on their previous b5 model. My bro is currently selling his s4 to buy a c63 b/c he says the new s4's have lost the once special feel of owning one.

I had an S4 (the V8 one, tuned) before I bought the C63.
Other than the interior that is better looking and a bit superior material and the super cool LEDS, the new S4 is not in the same power league as a stock C63 and forget about a tuned one. The C63 just rewards you on a daily basis and has that bad boy attitude.
If you want more refined, laidback and you are not power hungry, then the S4 is a great choice. It will be a big step up from the Evo.
Other than a new clutch, I had no electrical gremlins with mine.

They're aimed at a different buyer profile. You'd have to be an exceptionally broad-minded, intelligent, learned, eloquent, humble, and quite possibly dashingly handsome individual to truly appreciate both cars.
