What type of interest is there here for a carbon fiber C63 hood with vents?

I have a local customer here with a C63 who has been asking us to make a carbon C63 hood with vents to help heat evacuate, obviously we would determine the right spot for them. I do not have any final designs yet, but it would be 2 areas of vents with cut outs and about 5-7 slats on each side of the hood, they would be smooth/flat and not raised. Price would be about 1,900 or so. I am trying to get it as low as possible. But what kind of interest is there in this type of item, this would give us a better idea if we should do it or not.

Heard someone got temp black-flagged this past weekend at Sebring because they beat-up some M3 boys who cried foul

Keith and Lambo Ron got flagged for making a double pass on what was supposed to be a 900 hp race prepped M3 during a braking zone As this was not the competion class session things did get a little intense. I stopped waiting for point buys by the third session as it seemed very few drivers would give them. At the driver meeting they stated PB's were suggested but NOT required.

In his case, extra power did NOT make up for the lack of driving skills.

One of the most favorable sights of the day was this, followed by passing him in a no passsing zone after turn 10 because I was tired of waiting for a PB. Then got black flagged but it was worth it.

Waiting for one with nice flat style (keep the domes) vents. But anything north of the $1k mark is steep.

Like these just lateral to the "humps"? I think Bad4benz got his CF hood for <1k and he says the quality is great if I'm not mistaken, so I don't see how you can get a quality hood for <1k and what's the difference between that and a 2k quality CF hood? Where it's made, I dont really care....

Price is always issue but if OE-level quality and fitment is not achieved I wouldn't consider a product like this. I'll pay more for TOP quality.

Thanks guys, we just wanted to gauge interest. We are not doing a group buy or anything yet. It is something we were going to make because this customer is willing to pay, and i wanted to see if others would be looking for the same. I have a feeling we will be starting this soon. We would also offer this in our normal wet layup, or optional dry layup, but the cost for the dry will be $$$. And for the 5-7lbs it would save over the wet would probably not be worth it.

Interested...would this be a complete install kit with new struts, etc.? Also, how is the rain going to drain down those vents? And lastly, could you paint it to match the car?

Thx...

the quality on my hood is outstanding . i actually paid less than $1k for my hood before shipping . i think the difference is where it is made . i would hate to have to play the return game with a company in china for a bad product . luckily , i had a great person and company to deal with but i'm sure that's not always the case . Euroteck is top quality for sure

I would want mine color-matched so CF is overkill. How about a FRP option for those that are looking for the weight savings and vents?

I've had some of Euroteck Motorsport's CF products for quite some time now and they are absolutely FLAWLESS. Fit and finish was beyond . Anyone thinking about doing business with Neal should not worry at all!

I'd be in if this was for my car but it isn't so I'll go back to my corner.

Yes, it will come with everything most likely needed for the install. Rain will just go in, it is ok, there is no way we can make it with a drain. people think it is bad for rain water to get in the engine bay, but it is not, as long as its not over anything bad.

I get rain water going in my viper hood all the time, no issue.

These can be painted if needed. As far as FRP, it may be an option. It will still have a weight savings, just a little bit less then the CF though.

The way things are looking, we will start this very soon!

I understand it is labor-intensive to lay the mats. Some savings is better than none since it will be painted over.

I think the SL65 BS hood style would be better

That design wont exactly work right with the C63 humps on the hood. Would be much to busy looking, unless we eliminated the humps, which we are not going to do.
