I would just run a small bead of silicone on the inside (towards center of emblem) of the tape. That should hold it real good.

I think on a white car the black emblem edge will be too stark and the 7mm that are missing from it would be noticeable. It's my hope that on my white paint the chrome edge of the emblem will kind of get lost against the white and where the paint ends and emblem begins will be difficult to determine. Oh, how I wish for a 57mm emblem with proper mounting bracket.

If you take a look at Harrowers pictures with the black emblem, you can notice where the groove starts for the emblem on the hood. The part where the hood dips in for the hood emblem. Since you can always see that on the hood, if the edge of the badge fades into that, the actual emblem looks like it starts much further from that groove, which makes the emblem look very small.
Maybe its just me, but I think that's what Harrower was talking about when he said it didn't look right.

Yeah, I suspect that I'll be throwing away $20. It won't be the first or last! I've emailed everyone who sells on ebay and asked for 57mm so we'll see what kind of response I get. It seems all of the new cars have 57mm.

I did the same thing, Dave. I bought a set of four 57mm emblems off eBay that are essentially wheel center cap stickers. The quality of the actual emblem is just OK. It is far from perfect but looks pretty good. It's only been on for a day. So far, so good.
My biggest concern is how little contact area there is for the adhesive backing. I'll try to find a better version once I know this is going to hold up. I'm also on the hunt for a matching set (~63mm) for my wheels.
Here are some crappy pics from my garage. I'll take some better ones this weekend.

the ebay ones suck and the ones that are 40 bucks suck real bad they don't fit accurately and they bulge out of the hood mine suuuucks big time i still have it in the new box got it from a guy on this forum and we went back a forth about the poor fitment but the truth is they suck the washer that sits on the hood thick
