Faced a C6 corvette on the FWY.

I was on the Highway this afternoon and it was pretty empty and I see this C6 corvette pulling up behind me. He then pulls up next to me and i could see him start gaining some speed, I knew he wanted to run so i pulled up next to him, and we both booked it, I was shocked as he was slowly pulling ahead by half a car length. At that point I thought to myself, I definitely need a tune!!!! I wasnt expecting a C6 vette to pull like that.

CLK63 Black, E350 Wagon, Supercharged Denali, Lotus Elise, Tesla Model 3 Dual-Motor.
Corvette C6's weight 3300 lbs and have 400+ HP.
Unless it was a 505 HP Z06 or 638 HP ZR1.

He probably wasnt stock, cuz a regular stock c6 will NOT pull on a c63. Or maybe it was a Z51 LS3 C6 those things have like 450 hp. None the less good run, keep hunting.

i hate armchair racing but don't you think its possible? 600 pounds lighter to make up for less hp and a much better drag coefficient?

2010 C63
Even an auto non-Z51 LS2 C6 will run very close to a C63. Same with a later manual Z51 LS3 C6. We are talking a matter of +/- 0.2-0.3 sec in the quarter mile with a trap speed within a few mph as well. The cars are so close the other driver just could have gone WOT a fraction of a second before you, which would be enough to slowly pull away.

He should pull on you. Both cars shopuld be very equal which makes me think that he probably had a tune and an air filter. Are you stock? Prior to my C63 I had a C6 Z06 and I have been on the Corvette forums for a few years so I am familiar with the times and the runs.

It is easy to spot a LS2 from a LS3 vette. There is a probability that you raced a LS3 vette that maybe had a tune and an air filter.

They pretty much run the same. A simple tune to a C6 will get it down to about 12.2 in the 1/4.

My car is prety much bone stock. I just removed my resonaotrs, charcoal filters and have k&n filters. The corvette was stock (from the outside) i dont know if he had a tune or not. But i was really surprised, i was expecting the 63 to take it down with no problem. I wouldnt even think about running with a Z06, those things are F******G ANIMALS!! How did you like your Z06 compared to the C63?

Haha, good call on the tune. Was there a big difference with your kleeman K1 tune?

It was a regular C6 vette. I would have been left in the dust if it were a either a Z06/ZR1. The C6 had a definite weight advantage over me.

I have the RENNtech stage II ecu flash tune which is very similar to the Kleemann K1 ecu flash tune in terms of power, and YES, there is a big difference!

OP, I will tell you a secret; the weak spot of any Corvette is at higher speeds. If you are getting slightly pulled before mid triple digit speeds then after roughly 130 (regular C6) and 150 (Z06) the Vettes will stop pulling as hard if not stop pulling at all, because of our long 5th gear.

I kinda noticed that when we were both running, I felt like i could have passed him a little bit if we were runing for a longer period. Nonetheless I was very surprised. I tend to stay clear of Z06's like yours. Heard one the other day with a corsa exhuast and cams. Sounded AMAZING, especially on idle.
