Point of Quad Exhaust?
The CTS-V has a fairly large engine but it only has dual exhaust tips. What is going on?

Is the number of exhaust correlated to engine displacement?

no more AMG
4 is more then 2 so thats better Honestly, I don't know. Probably just a different way to distinguish the C63 from the C350 and C300. Maybe it's a little less restrictive coming out of the rear mufflers? Most likely answer is that it looks cool.

Has nothing to do with performance of engine size....just a styling thing...I like the quads personally...

3 tips huh.. that might explain alot.. they keep bursting into flames all over the world.. literally.. every week for the last month or so.. there has been atleast one of those 458's spontaneously combusting.

BMW announced they would go 4-tip for all M-cars starting with the E46 M3, so fewer just wouldn't cut it for AMG.

It's a "my ***** is bigger than yours" type thing. More is better right? I once saw a last gen E55 with dual tri-tips making for a total of SIX tips! I hope the owner didn't see me laughing when I was behind him in traffic.

Typically Mercedes runs either a 2 3/4" or 3" exhaust from the collectors to the mufflers, it helps remove the exhaust gases, looks good and provides a great exhaust note.

I can see where this trend is headed. The SL65 with 6 tips could EASILY fit another 4 in the middle where the rear diffuser is, making for a grand total of 10.

An entire row of exhaust tips! The future looks bleak...
