Was driving NB 71 freeway...its was so clear so I'm just cruising 80mph... All of a sudden I saw a CHP half mile away and driving fast till it was tailgating me and BAM lights came on and asked me to pullover. Cop asked me if I'm in a hurry and I said "No officer" and asked me again how much do I think I'm doing..I said "70" and he said "no..your doing 80". My V1 didn't work so I'm guessing he just eye balled my speed. He asked for my DL and INS and he said "oh you live at _ _ _ _ street. Then he said " ill let you go but will just give you for front tint" then he went back to his car then after 5 min he came back gave me my ticket, let me signed and asked " why did you paint your badge? I said "I wanna look stealth" and he said "Man its an AMG..you should be proud of it" and he said "hope you won't drive that fast anymore" ...I laughed and thank him.

 

Sounds like a pretty chill CHP, Hope you dont get any more tickets. Have you checked out the ESCORT redline radar? They say its better then any radar they have used.

dang, that sucks... what part of the 71 did he snag you at? Pine? Soquel Canyon? Chino Hills Parkway? Or just before the 57? Those are usually where they like to hang out... At least it's only window tint :P

I had something similar happen to me... and the officer was actually a bit pissed off when he got to my door. He started off by saying, "Sir, you really need to slow down do you understand me".... so I basically apologized immediately, agreed that I was going around 80 and was just enjoying the drive.... I mean it was obvious he got me. His mood changed immediately and he said you would be surprised how many people don't just say sorry and be cool, most get feisty and rude, etc. I have tint as well and he didn't get me for that but he then walks to the front on my car and says I'll only give you a fix it ticket for having no front plate. $125 to not fix it...boooo. It sucks in CA (not sure how many states allow no front plate) as now the metermaids are good at getting you for no front plates (which I've received one from them as well... dam it). But for now I just refuse to put it on (we'll see after a few more tickets ha).

 

I run with the Escort Redline. Love it. Save my bacon couple times today heading to vegas. Not that I was speeding of course.

I also recently purchase the Redline. From what I understand, it excels in off-axis detection and probably slightly better range. Still waiting for the Guys of Lidar to compare is against the V1.

You are better off getiing pulled over by CHP than LA County Sheriff around the Walnut/Diamond Bar area. The ones that used to harass me are diks with that Asian racial profiling back when I was younger.

You ever thought about the hide away plate?? I feel the same way about the front plate (I don't have one either) but I haven't gotten a ticket yet (knock on wood). I know Washington state doesn't require a front plate, but Oregon does for sure. I went so far as to contact the state police and even argued the point that I am not required by law to install after market parts on my car, apparently they do not consider a license plate an after market part even though my car doesn't come with a license plate holder in the front. I think it would be great to mess with the cops and when they pull you over be like "what do you mean officer, I have a front plate".
