My new C63

Hi everybody,

I just picked up a black/black CPO 2008 MB C63 AMG with 19 Inch Euro Multispoke Rims, P2, Multimedia, Leather packages (everything but PP) from the local MB dealership. Approximately 1/1/2 years ago, I originally spec'd and ordered a 2009 C63 AMG fully loaded with PP. However, I backed out and took my deposit back and put my money into another car at the time. However, I was always intrigued by the C63, and I have always followed it's progress for used prices on the internet. Prices were too good for me to pass it up this time. I'm brand new to this forum (I've never even lurked before). I've been a member of other car forums, so I know sites like these can be very helpful. Here are a couple of pics of the car with my Iphone. The car was "debadged" by the dealer, and I am being given the option to place the badges on at no additional charge. I kind of like the clean "debadged" look, but my wife likes the badges to be on. What are some of your opinions?

Congrats and welcome to the family! Very nice looking ride. On the badging thing there is something to be said for keeping it in stealth mode by having no badges at all. IMHO the chrome AMG/6.3 OEM badges have too much "look at me" thing going and besides every poser out there simply gets them on eBay anyway. What I might suggest and what I am doing is to go for the blacked out badge look. I am installing black versions of the AMG and 6.3 badges so the car stays with original look, but does not have the bling look of chrome. That way it is nice balance between the two options. You can get them in shiny/matte and even CF if you want.
Congrats again and happy driving.

Welcome. The car looks very good for a 2008. Looks like you made a good choice; I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Even got the 16-spoke 19's off the bat. Some of us are jealous already. Enjoy in good health.

Nice car & love the 19's!! As for the badge, I would put them back on... or do what harrower did with the black emblem+black car= clean. The C63 is one of my cars I would never debadge.

The dealer already ordered the badges for me. What I'll likely do is hold on to them and place them on at a future time if I fully decide to do it. If I ever sell the car, it would be cool to have these parts for others who definitely would want them.

The C63 is my new daily driver. It's been quite an upgrade from my last DD, a 2003 Toyota Camry. The amazing engine response, is like night and day, the seats are very comfortable, and the multimedia and other electronic dash and steering wheel gidgets are great, providing pure luxury. Heck, it even has heated seats and a retractable sunvisor in back. The engine itself, is worth the car upgrade.

However, with the stiffer suspension and 19 inch rims, I notice the ride is somewhat harsh on bad roads, I can feel everything. I also need to get used to being smoother on shifting in manual, as I'm really used to driving a plain old 6-speed stick-shift manual during spirited runs. I had to refill the gas tank within a week, while the Camry sometimes took 2 weeks to refill. These are things I will have to get used to and are just minor issues as compared to what this car offers.

I'm likely not going to "tune" the car or bring it to any track events. I have some other toys for that type of fun. It will function solely as my daily driver to work. It's great that I still have 3 years left on the power train warranty. I did not extend my warranty or buy the wheel protection warranty. Did any of you guys buy any of these warranty options?

It is my understanding that the C63 AMG and last generation E63 AMG were the first Merc cars that had engines, fully built in the AMG factory. Older models were supposedly just "tuned" Merc engines by AMG. That said, I have never heard anything good or bad about AMG reliability. Is a a very reliable car? a substandard car in reliability? I know a lot would depend on how you drive it and take care of it and keep maintenance regular.

Thanks again, for the timely responses, guys. I'm loving my car!

Congrats & enjoy the new ride. The reliability has been good from everything I've read.

AMG Reliability should be pretty good. I do not think it would be in Camry range. Camry are relaible cars for day use. I had rarely seen anything broken. Only oil change and brake service. (Base from my exp as a mechanic years ago.) MB labour cost and parts will be way more expensive. But don't you regret of paying more, C63 is FUN to drive. You will remember how sleepy/boring when you drove Camrys. In C63, only.
