*Freaky C63 visits Marranos,any thoughts ??
As we do alot of C63's we had one come thru the shop that was kind of special,it produced 290rwkw's / 390hp at the treads in std form, after a set of k&n's & a custom powerchip tune it produced a ground breaking 331rwkw's /447hp at the treads, this has been the most powerful C63 we have had on our dyno.I drove it home for 2 days,I can vouch that this car was a freak,it was so powerful at any throttle point,it almost felt like it supercharger, engine was so sharp and precise..anyone here know of one thats made similar figures ?? beloww os a link to video of the power run & aa picture of the dyno sheet.

I know this might be a long shot, but what I think you need to do is to give us the name of the AMG tech that built that engine, and find/ask anyone whom has an C63 that built by the same guy plus dyno. This should nail down the variables some what.

this is almost the same as you propain.
here is what im thinking all 2010 c63 and up have bigger stock headers then 08's and 09's.
if the preformance pack plus has bigger headers and beter ECU could it be MB AMG installed bigger headers on all c63 2010 and up. maybe thats why the 2010 make more power then others when tuned.

I said it from day 1 the 2010 felt stronger but you really never know. Im kicking myself for not getting a baseline Dyno now. Maybe when OE Tuning gets their EZ Flash completed for the C63 ill get it and flash back to stock and Dyno again.
Edit: just saw SAE on Dyno sheet. HP looks good. Torque is a bit low though.

You know I was going to chime in on this as well. You might be right on the 2010's. We should find someone else with a 2010 who recently got a tune and dyno and compare those numbers. Im curious though as to the OP if this was SAE numbers.

Regarding the torque in this Powerchip tune, it actualy looks pretty good in comparison to other tune/filter-only cars. I've seen a number of dynos for tuned C63's with torque in the high 380's.

Another way to find out if 2010's have different headers than 08'-09's is to locate the part number for the 2010's headers and then the part number for 08'-09's.

Im not saying the torque was terrible, im saying it was low in comparison to how much HP it was making.

Edit: I just re-checked both of your guys' dyno sheets and your car actually has a fatter torque curve.

I really want to find out if the 2010 exhaust manifolds are better than the ones that come in the 09's.

Both VERY strong cars for sure. Id like to compare more 2010's results. Im sure im not special. Im never that lucky!

For some reason i felt the car i test drove 09 model is slower than my 10 model, maybe you guys were right, the header might be different, very interesting topic. I just felt more aggressive with the acceleration!!.

Here's my MY 2010 before and after the installation of K2. The car was dyno'ed at Kleemann in Denmark and their dyno converts the reading into crank HP so not really comparable.
What was interesting was that the baseline dyno came out at 467 HP which according to the head of the workshop was the strongest base C63 they ever measured. This was the first 2010 model year they worked on.

Hmmmm.. I think were on to something here. It seems the 2010's might be putting some more power than advertised. Now we need to figure out why. If it was in the tune alone we wouldnt see the after tune results going higher than the 09's. If it was tune only the stock 2010 would dyno higher but the tuned 2010's would dyno just as good as a tuned 09.
I think we need a few more compares before we set out to figure out why. Nice results by the way. Thats some big crank HP!

here is another freak.

on side note wish we had dyno fans like that.

In Italian (Cavalli), Spanish (Caballos de vapor), and Portuguese (Cavalo-vapor), CV is the equivalent to the German, PS.

I spent some time on the Mercedes EPC. The exhaust manifolds are the same throughout. The P31 option appears to be shown as footnote #923 in the listings for piston(s), conrod, and crankshaft. There are no footnotes for camshafts, however there have been 3 revisions for the intake cams and two for the exhaust. All of the camshaft part numbers start with 156, the P31 crankshaft, pistons, and conrods start with 159. The SLS engine is a 159. So as advertised, the P31 has SLS bottom end pieces. But all 2010's have different camshafts? Just one explanation why people are getting better dyno numbers on the later cars

Thank you for providing this good information. So, even if the cams were revised, they still have the same part number as they originally did?
I can see how a revised cam can account for a little more power.

Mercedes Electronic Parts Catalog
There are 3 different part number changes for each Intake cam (both right and left), and 2 changes for each exhaust camshaft.
Part numbers can change because of any number reasons, including durability issues, even supplier changes. One might suspect they changed the timing or lift with one of these changes. I didn't think to look at the time , but I wouldn't be surprised if that is one of the ways they bumped up the new E63 HP. I'm sure someone will figure this out in due time.
