C63 AMG now or later?
first i would like to say hi to everyone as this is my first thread.
i'm currently in my final year living in university dorm in Toronto. and my dad gave me a greenlight to purchase any car i like as a present.
however, i'm moving back to Vancouver after spring. so i'll have to ship it then.
what you guys think.
buying amg now and enjoy it early but have to leave the car outside and brutalize by weather xD
or wait for a newer model next year and park safely in garage?
also. i would like to know the differences between 2010 and 2011, and any news on the upcoming model.
i know this is an AMG forum and this topic has likely came up countless of times. what you guys think of the BMW M3?

If i were you id get the C63, But the thing is make sure you park it in a garage if you are worried about severe weather messing the car up. Or get a really heavy duty car cover.
The M3 is cool too but after driving both if them the C63 is the more enjoyable car IMO.
I think the 2011 model is basically gonna be the same, AMG is supposed to come out with the 5.5TT engine but i dunno if they are going to put it in the C. I prefer the 6.2 N/A.

If you guys can afford a new C63 than search out and pay for some private storage. Shouldn't be that expensive. This way you can enjoy the car now and also keep it clean and safe during the cold winter.
The M3 is a pretty car and it's magnificent V8 will make you dizzy while you rev it into the firmament -- 6000, 7000, oh yes, 8000+ rpm's can be had. (Sorry, just once I wanted to try my hand at describing the M3's S65 engine -- auto journalists set such a high bar).
But, the M3 lacks torque -- lots of it. I've never driven one, but I've always been a fan of engines that make more torque than hp or at least produce a closer hp/tq ratio than the S65 engine.
That said, you can't beat the M3's handling or on-track performance. Or can you? Wait, I think I just heard a new 5.0 Mustang figure eight right by me.
The C63 is a special car. If you appreciate a beautifully crafted, high hp/high tq naturally aspirated engine, paired to a top-notch transmission and laser-like steering, you will love driving the C63... every time you get in it... except for when you drive on really rough and uneven pavement.

It seems that you have a decision to make, I would find a garage somewhere near you to house it. And I would invest in snow tires, Canadian winters can be brutal. We have very mild winters in Virginia, no worries here. If your not in any worry to get the C63, then wait until next year. As far as my understanding, their are not differences between an 2010-2011. The new Twin Turbo V8, isn't coming to the C Class anytime soon, that engine is being reserved for the S, CL for right now. it will eventually make it to the SL, CLS and then E. If the C Class is to get it, it will be the last model to recieve it. "Bottom of the list" The M156 6.2 liter NA engine is a dream, lots of power and torque. People will always want more POWER, but this is a car that kills all M3s. The M3 is a very nice car, killer on the track, but lacks the HP and torque number that the C63 has. The M3 will out handle the C63 in the twisties, but get to a straight section, and the M3 is toast. BMW makes a great product, the 3 Series has been European Car of the Year, more times then I can remember. Can't go wrong with buying either, but I prefer the C63. It's your choice, go test drive both and decide for yourself.

Mild my ***.. did the last snow storm teach you nothing :P
I would however agree, we need to see your grades before helping you decide
Otherwise, most modern cars have decent winter weather protection, just take care of the car (hose it down after driving through salty/sandy slush in winter, throw a cover over it before a storm).
I plan on leaving my car out of the garage this winter, mostly because my Garage is currently occupied by 5 Bicycles (3 mountain 2 road), table saw, router table, thickness planer, standard planer, and a crapton of other major power tools that just don't quite fit in my living room.. unless I want a divorce
So, moral of the story, get the car if you want it, drive it like you stole it (within legal limits), take care of it and it should survive winter just fine.

If you can wait...wait...cars will always get better and cheaper.
The cost of owning it sooner than later is always too much, and for you it seems like it since you need to exert so much effort just to own it now.

Yes... Yes I am happy.. as an African American (inside joke between me and my friends as I am as white and pasty as a gothy person... but I literally grew up in South Africa, where winters were a horribly cold mid 50's with some rain in my parts).... The winters around here are absolutely brutal and I freeze my *** off when it drops below 60... I start to wear heavy jackets and pre warm the butt warmers in the car.... and I just completely threadjacked this thread....
