Front Tire Life...

I've got 13.5K miles on my fronts and they're getting thin. The third set of rears was put on at about 10K. I'm going to give the Yoko AVID ENVigors a try but want to put them on when I need fronts and rears so as to avoid a mismatched set. How many miles are you guys getting out of the fronts?

I managed to sqeak out 15K out of my General Exclaim UHP, before I bought new front and rear tires. And their right at 5/32 tread depth left on them. I have them sitting in the garage, just in case I need them. But if I was to buy two more rear tires, I would have another complete set.

there should be a warning upon signing up to take up the car stipulating the tire wear is nuts!

2009 C63 with Eurocharged tune and charcoal delete
Yep, about 15K for the fronts and about 8K for the rears, so every other trip to the tire shop is for all four. Next time I change all four I will try the Yoko AVID Envigors. 500+ treadwear rating. Car is a daily driver and I am hoping that I won't be able to tell the difference. The good news with the C63.....if the tires you buy suck you don't have to put up with them for very long.

is it heavy throttle or just the stance of the car that eats tires?

I mean daily city driving, not flooring it at every red light (I understand heavy acceleration is hard to stay away from in this car)...would tires last longer (like a normal car, ha!)?

for DD use, what is the expected tires/gas expense per year?

CLK63 Black Series
It's not the negative camber that eat's tires, it's the toe alignment that does.

Is it verified that the factory toe alignment setting is pretty aggressive?

What would you compromise if you adjust this? I'm sure most of us don't track our cars so getting 5k miles more from the rears in exchange of pulling less Gs on the corners will be a worthwhile trade.

The only thing I can verify is how the CLK63 BS is set up from the factory. On the C63, however, it's a guess based on how the car handles and eats it's tires. It's a MBZ trade mark to have quite a bit toe-out in the rear under hard acceleration and causes two things: It makes the rear end feel kind of loose and will eat the inside of the tires. It's really noticeable in the Black Series. You could go either to a zero toe or slight toe-in to counter that tendency and prevent excessive tire wear. You would only compromise handling on tighter turns, as the car doesn't rotate as easily anymore. But that will be more noticeable on the track, rather than the street.

Yes
For rears, I got 5400 out of my OEM Pirelli's, then about 9k with my Toyo T1R's.

I am at 14.5k now and my fronts are just about getting down to the wear bars, could probably squeak some more life out of them but will be replacing with Michelin Pilot AS+'s and their 45000 mile warranty tomorrow

I've gotten almost 20k out of my sumitomo fronts. They're sub-par performance/ average daily driving tires, but I still have some tread left except the outer edges are showing some pitting/heat cycles? Rears lasted 12k.

you guys will like the Yoko Avids! i was probably the first to try them out. currently i have the Pzeros on the front and the Avids on the rear with around 7500 miles on the clock. my Pzeros wore out on the rear at 4k. i could have probably got about another 1k out of them but i didnt want to risk wet driving.

so far the Yokos show ZERO wear. they provide adequate grip for daily driving or weekend public road blasts. probably the thing i notice the most is in long sweeping turns at high rates of speed (70-80mph) the traction control light flashes more than it use to. im assuming the yaw sensors are very aggressive and the tires are slipping some. but other than that its hard to notice a difference.... and remember i mixed brands front and rear. probably not the best idea but i have had ZERO issues doing this. so....

HBC350 if you need rear tires go ahead and put a set of Yokos on the back. you wont be upset with the handling i promise ya. now in a perfect world my fronts would not have still looked new and i would have put all four Yokos on... but i just couldnt justify buying a new rear set of Pzeros to match the fronts or pull the fronts off and waste perfectly good front Pzeros. so i mix matched them and said "screw it!" i havent regreted it.

if you have any other questions PM me anytime!!!
