Fold the rear seats down for auditory bliss
Alex's Tip #223: Fold the rear seats down, go and mash the accelerator (obviously while moving forwards).
I don't know about you guys, but my car is 99% a 2 seater (Me +GF), so I now tend to drive around with my rear seats folded down as the sound of the exhaust, I think, is greatly improved.
Try it, let me know your thoughts

I would like to try this because I love the sound of our exhaust. Just tonight I was driving around with all the windows down just to get a little better sample of the exhaust. But, I'm affraid I don't know how to put the back seats down. I looked the other day. I'm sure it's simple, but I couldn't figure it out.
I would normally check my owners manual. But, my dealer sold me the car with a clk63 owners manual by mistake and they have not followed through with delivering me a C63 manual. Over a month later now and still no manual.
Do you have any quick tips that I could use to put the rear seats down? It would be greatly appreciated.

Open the boot, there are two levers (for each side, seats fold down 33%/66%) on the rear parcel shelf. Pull them, seats will "click". Go into the car in the back, pull the seat forward.
I've been considering removing my rear seats all together...

Funny I was going to post the same thing! My wife goes, was that a backfire? Is the car broken? I say, wonderfull isn't it..................I live for downshifts and holding on to a grear a little longer than necessary sometimes.

I thought that everyone knew about putting the back seats down, like sitting in a opera house. The world awakens to the sound of exhaust....the sound is intoxicating.

^^ Agreed! I used to have a sub in every of my other cars... but I decided not to do it on the C63 since I hardly turn on the music loud ;cuz I always enjoy the sound of the exhaust... hehehe!

I tried this yesterday. Wow, it does make quite a difference! The car sounds like a totally different beast. The exhaust note sounds very raspy when you step on it...almost sounds like something is broken in the exhaust (in a good way, of course
). I can also hear the downshifts and backfiring much better.
Since I hardly ever use the back seats, I'll just keep them folded from now on and enjoy the new soundtrack.

I did the same thing yesterday and I love it. I might be interested in removing my back seats for weight savings, but it would look pretty ghetto in a Benz. So, I don't think so for now.

I dont know why I didn't think of running around with the rear seats down earlier, pretty obvious once you do it...
So then I think, what's an even better way to hear what's really goin' on back there......
I drove about 2 miles around some back streets this morning with the trunk wide OPEN.......
Yee Hah!!
Yes, I know all about carbon monoxide poisoning, so I made sure I had plenty of fresh cold, dense air to breathe
As this is my 1st post, here's the obligatory pic...

I put the seats down again today. It's been fun.
