In all fairness, they were dead even cars, which is a GREAT job by Ford, IMHO.
What was weird is that the 5.0 was identical to the M all the way around the track except the last section where it lost by a VERY small margin.
And they did state the obvious that the 5.0 was easier to drive than the M at the limits.

Aesthetics, QC and design aside, the M3's chassis/suspension is what makes it the winner.

You may have gotten this backwards. Both drivers said the 5.0 dips and squats disconcertingly, while the M3 "I think the BMW is faster because of its superior shock control at high speed," he says. "It has very little nose dive, very little brake dive, which gives me more confidence as a driver."

PS: I have owned and tracked M's and YES they are great on the track for a skilled driver. Side note, I really was disappointed on the street with their performance witch is why I drive benz's now. But yes, this is MHO.

Ah, that is a big NO. Read the article about the average joe driving, and guess what, the 5.0 wins. As noted below from the article.

+1 I test drove a 2011 Mustang GT and they are a blast to drive. I was going to buy one and keep my C350, but the wifey was giving me the speach about "YOU DON'T NEED TWO CARS WHEN YOU DON'T DRIVE THE ONE YOU HAVE!" lol

Initially it is easy to squeeze power out of the C63, Headers + tune and you are looking at 50whp. After that it starts to get very expensive for minimal results. If you are going to go all the way, I would get an M3. Can't beat those ESS superchargers!

Initially, Russia announced the following power characteristics:
BMW M3 / / / - 420Hp
Mercedes C63 - 487Hp (Performance Package)
If we want to do the easiest version of the compressor on the M3 from the ESS, it will be an option in 525Hp and the cost will be approximately $ 10 000;

If we want to raise output above the level of C63 500Hp, you will need to make chip-tuning, and voila 520-530Hp, and most pleased that the cost would not exceed $ 2500;

Conclusion: Tuning to the level of 530Hp, Mercedes for less!
