P31...

I agree 100%, The way i see it is if you dont want to spend money on mods and you care about the cars warranty then i guess go with the P31. If however you are a nutty car guy like myself who gives a crap about the warranty, I much rather spend the money and do my own upgrades. Remember options is the place that the dealer starts making Money.

My local dealership just called me back saying that they've looked all over the country in various different states and that they can't find a new or slightly used C63 in Mars Red with the P31 package...I found one on autotrader but it's almost 2,000 miles away and doesn't have a black interior.
Any ideas? Ebay has also come up empty, my close second choice is a White C63 and I've found that as close as 2 hours drive from where I am, but I really want Mars Red, it just pops on this car.

Honestly what I was hoping to do was get a car with P31 and then just mod it some more

Doesn't have black interior and probably doesn't have carbon fiber interior. Sahara Beige if i remember with walnut trim. My dealership tried to sell me that one also. It does have LSD tho.

Yeah, but I kind of want wood to be honest, don't know if that's weird or not. Didn't know it had the LSD though, that's pretty cool.

How do you explain this?
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...0-c63-p31.html
I wanted to get a baseline on my P31 using the same dyno that many others in our region were using. Both to provide me with a baseline and to see just what the P31 provides compared to other tunes.
Results:
Baseline (no mods) (Before pulls)
428.09 RWHP / 377.90 RWTQ
426.61 RWHP / 381.90 RWTQ
423.60 RWHP / 389.06 RWTQ 5th Gear
Average for 3 runs = 425.35 RWHP / 381.97 RWTQ
Baseline + Charcoal Filters Removed (After pulls):
422.75 RWHP / 381.75 RWTQ
420.38 RWHP / 381.30 RWTQ
418.91 RWHP / 380.55 RWTQ
Average for 3 runs = 420.56 RWHP / 380.63 RWTQ

Average for 3 runs = 420.56 RWHP / 380.63 RWTQ
Conclusion:
Using the typically accepted 18% loss @ the drive train it appears my car is putting out just over 500HP / 450ft-lbs at the crank. Well in excess of the factory rating of 481HP / 442ft-lbs. I'm not complaining.

following dyno numbers.
414 RWHP
386 RWTQ
Ran it at the track and went 12.32 @ 114.
Sounds like more than marketing to me.

Don't get me wrong, I like CF as well but after having the aluminum trim in my 335i for a few years I'm left with the desire to have something "warmer" on the dash of my next car.
But now after seeing that spy pic of the C Coupe tracking the nurburgring, and reading that it will have the 5.5 TT V8, I am having second thoughts...damn you AMG for always having something better waiting in the wings...At least if I get the C63 now I'll have one of the last true NA V8s around..

Does the estate come with some kind of CF trunk lid as well with the P31? Would really appreciate an answer to this question.
Thanks in advance

Marketing game? How so?
How do you explain this?

I have a non P31 C63 with a Eurocharged Tune and put down the
following dyno numbers.
414 RWHP
386 RWTQ
Ran it at the track and went 12.32 @ 114.

Honestly, are you really going to tell a difference between a standard 63 piston and a forged one while driving? or a Revised crankshaft? I dont think so, Thats what i mean when i say its a marketing game.

Ya, that's what it says on paper but after driving my C63 and one with a p31 package they felt pretty much the same, that's just my own experience. The only good thing about the p31 package is extra HP IMO. Why spend all that money on the p31 package when you could get a tune for about $1000 that will give you pretty much the same HP.

What about the warranty? You are sure gonna feel the difference when something brakes down and either the warranty would pay for it or you yourself...

Its funny you ask this as I had this very conversation with Andy at MHP on Friday. His ans was that the end result for both a P31 and a None P31 car are the same. So yes you can Tune and install headers and mid pipes on a P31 however you wont see more gains then a tuned None P31 with the same upgrades. You can always call him as he's a really nice guy to talk too....

Why would the gains on a P31 differ for a non-P31 with headers when the only performance difference is tune and internal forged whatever???

Well said, i am waiting for delivery of my 2011 P31 by tomorrow. At first I thought i would pass on the P31 as the normal C63 was "enough" but after some research there's a lot of usable value in the option, LSD, Engine Internals are higher grade, better brakes... anyway, I own a STS caddy already (love the car) and there is NO comparison between the service centers; hands down Mercedes is the best I've had anywhere. ![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

LSD is separate from P31. Some dealers forget to offer it, I almost didn't get it. It shows on the MBUSA.COM amg section as $2030, yet there isn't an option to check it while building your C63. There are many options you can add that is above and beyond the website. Ask your dealership.
