Sold2009C63 Bought 2011C63 w/Dev Pack +30hp
I am having a hard time believing the 2011 I just purchased has +30 hp w/development package. It seems much slower off the line than my 09 w/perf package and about the same at the top of 2nd and on. Does anyone else have any insight on this or am I just going crazy?

How many miles on the new 2011?
For me at least it took about 1000 miles before the car really opened up.
Going by the few P31 dyno charts published, your new machine should actually put down more power than advertised (500+ HP at the crank) so in other words a significant upgrade from your outgoing 2008.
Only way to be 100% sure is it to take your new toy to a reputable Dyno Shop.

I just broke 1000 break in miles where I babied it and varied RPM's. Now that I am done with the break in I have been stepping into it more frequently but quite frankly I have been disappointed with it in comparison to my 2009.

Hey Darrell, as an AMG driving instructor explained it to me, I just finished doing laps in a 2011 Dev package with the extra 30 ponies and extras, then I hopped in my 2008 and barely noticed any difference, I was dissappointed to say the least, he told me, in this caliber of car and large displacement of horsepower, the extra 30 ponies realistacly translates in about a 6% HP gain, very hard to gauge that increase, so dont be to dissappointed, you do have above all......major bragging rights.

Take this car to the Fomoso event run it in stock form and see how she does. We can gauge alot from the 1320 as we have data from alot of cars including the p31.
It definately is difficult to tell 30 hp from the seat, but a timed event vs another C63 minus the package may prove of value. Dyno likely will not give you the answers

Frankly, the power difference between a base C63 and a P31-equipped car should be felt. I have never driven in one, but considering the P31 adds about 50+ rwhp, not the 30 flywheel hp that is advertised, the car should feel like a beast when it's in the meat of it's powerband.

Does your new P31 C63 have an LSD? I don't think it comes standard in the P31 development package, it's a separate option.

Yes the P31 has the LSD just like the P30. The only differences is the + 30 hp that I can tell.
A quick note:
I took the car to Race Legal at Qualcomm stadium in San Diego and ran 1/8 mile. My best run was 7.9 at 94Mph but I am sure I could have done much better with better tires. The stock tires where spinning through 1 and 2nd and began to beast ahead at the top of 2nd. I am sure if I could stick i would have been running much different numbers. I ran it about 20 times half with sport and half with traction control off. I was averaging 8.1 @ 92 Mph in sport mode but got my best numbers with traction control off and babied it out of the hole. Reaction times were varied because I was trying to ease it out of the gate to reduce the spinning but averaged .750 with my best reaction time @ .509 ... Even the announcer was beggin me to get some slicks and run with the big dogs.

Thats good! 7.90's would indicate above average power as stock C63 would be 8.30's

If it does not have the LSD then it can not be available in the states. Like I said I built the car and added every option possible. I also just came from the mbusa website where I tried to build one again and I am 100% positive it is not an additional option available for the 2011.

I am thinking I could have run 7.5's with adequate traction. I was happy with the performance last night and I may need to retract my previous statement as my 2011 seemed to come alive on the strip. I got plenty of complements for its performance and a number of people asking me to pick up some Mickey Thompson street slicks.

It does not show as a option like you said shame really as i used to own a standard c63 without a lsd and now have a p30 c63 with a lsd i would not buy a c63 again without the lsd as it makes a huge difference to the way the c63 performs and here in the uk the p31 cars come with softer suspension than the p30 cars and you cannot add the sports suspension to a p31 cars as a option which again is a shame as the sports suspension transforms the way the c63 handles.

I purchased the Lighting package and have the Bi xenon headlights. We are talking about the Limited Slip Differential rear end. Maybe I am misunderstanding your post.
