C63 Edition 63
Hi all.
I have just purchased a new limited edition C63, the Edition 63 in South Africa.
I just noticed that there are two little drips on the front left door. The drips are clear and not paint. Also noticed on the inside of the front doors where the hinges are, there is a sort of sprayed clear blotch on either side.
The colour is one of three designo colours on the limited editions - Graphite.
Do you guys have any manufacturing defects on your cars?
Thanks.

Google C63 AMG Limited Edition for South Africa.
Its not too different from the normal 63. Mine has 19" wheels, black leather covered dash and door trim also covered in leather. Seats are designo black leather.
Has bigger brakes, improved cooling system and the limiter is moved to 280kmph.
Mercedes claims the power to be 336kw (450Hp), but she just feels alot faster than my old std C63.
World Cup was great. Didnt really go to any of the matches, just watched all at home in HD. I dont like being in huge crowds

Just get it detailed at dealer cost.
What colours do you get in SA? I think we got mystic white, platinum black and a few matte alagnite.

Cool wagon. Jenson Button drives the DR520 edition. Is yours the same as that?
We have Mystic White, Platinum Black and Graphite. No Matte Alagnite tho.
Would have loved to see that on the 63.
Im not sure what to do with the drip. Can it be buffed / polished out without damaging the rest of the paintwork?

My car is a mystic white which is more like proper bright white it has the leather dash with red stiching all the way around the doors aswell and my seats are red aswell with the back seat cover also wrapped with Red leather all done by designo and one of the main reasons why I bought it looks just absolutly beautiful! Plus it's the only one in The gulf!

You can buff it out, but you will need a very aggressive pad and compound combination. Hit up http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide/
They sell stuff in the US, but you can probably find many of the products in SA (ps I was born and lived in PE), but the information there will help you take care of teh car if you are so inclined to do it yourself. Hit up the various blog posts, where they discuss paint correction, including how to do it, and what to use.
Based on that particular detailers' experience, most cars, even Ferrari's and what not, have crappy paint work straight off the manufacturers floor.

Mines not the 520 though as I think they were only available from the Brooklands dealership.
Trivial question? Did you guys also get the Affalterbach gear knob and titanium painted rims?

I don't think that MB does a very good job with quality control. My new 2010 has a big ball of clear coat that forgot to dry off or drip off under the left wheel well behind the amber light. No biggie but you would think they would catch these things...

Thanks. Enjoying the limited edition. The colour is a bit different to the other standard 63's, so it stands out from the rest.
All limited editions have the number "1 of 63" and a pic of Africa on the gear knob, so not sure what's my number.
This was off the floor, so could not have any options. Although she feels abit faster than my old stock C63. She has improved cooling system, upgraded braking system and the speed limiter is moved to 280kmph.
The rims are 19'' which are titanium painted.
I gave my car to the dealership to have the tinting and those dumb tyre bands fitted, and my car came back with FLATSPOTS on the rear tyres!!! Now I have vibration and it will cost me R14000 to replace 2 rear Yokohama Advan Sport tyres!!!
Also showed them the drips and said they cannot remove it!

I vaguely remember it being a small drip in clear coat as well--I'll try and take a pic next time I detail the car--mine was nothing that needs correction, just "normal" sheeeet!
Nothing is perfect I learned that a long time ago--and if you think something is perfect, you're just not looking hard enough!
![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Just various grades of imperfection--from almost pefect to complete crap!
my .02, get yours fixed if it's really obvious or bugs you, just make sure it goes to the best detailer you can find, because correcting that is not a DIY IMHO!
Good luck
and yeah some pics of these cars would be great, ROW people!!
